Did any of you horsepower calculator guys ever use this

 cool, it let's me make as much as I want.
I'm shooting for 865 HP .lol

You been racing long enough, your MPH will get you close to actual HP estimate.
But you knew that.

i don’t put a lot of stock in the numbers because in my case right now I’ve gone 9.42@138mph. But between what I think need a bigger carb (850 gas converted to alcohol), 4.88 gears, and a solid lifter cam, my combo is dead in the water before 1000 foot. Hopefully try a bigger carb this year and update my five year old valve springs.

It was within four HP of what mine made on the dyno, but it was off by 1000 rpm's. :realcrazy:

The numbers seem close.. the rpm not so much.
I like my desktop dyno.

What I noticed on my 340 is it sure liked duration with my setup. I punched in a couple of my different camshafts and was able to jump up nearly 50 horses with what I thought was relatively small increases maybe two stages. I have never done any desktop dyno stuff so it was fun for me. Too many variables to consider it extremely accurate but I will say I believe it's ballpark.

Oh come on ? most of us can only dream of having a mid-nines car get some badass springs in that pup and carry on. LOL

It’s past due rebuild time. The 422 will be coming out and a fresh 408 will be going in. Bigger carb is to be delivered soon and this one will have a roller cam.

It appears to be similar to other simplified power calculators in that they don’t show combos using heads that aren’t that good as being capable of making good power.
There isn’t even an input for carb size, or exhaust type.

The air flow number is a major driver in these sims in determining the output.

I ran a couple through there....... the predictions were 70-80hp low.
It’s 115hp low on my friends Stocker motor.

I’m sure if I plugged in numbers from a typical SBC with AFR heads and a single plane manifold the numbers would come out pretty close.

Other calculators derived from actual performance say my junk is somewhere around 500 crank, 400 to the wheels. This calculator says 365 crank hp at 3900. Lets see..... which do i believe?

Wound tight, laying over, gave up the ghost, along for the ride, begging for mercy, that’s all she got, there ain’t no mo, shouda stuck at 1/8 mile racing, pray for mercy.

So its not making the power you thought it should? Have you thought about trying a smaller carb?

I tried 2 more combos, which were both built out of the same short block.

One was smaller heads and a SFT cam, the other used bigger, higher flowing heads and a SR cam.

The small head combo showed just over 50hp low and peaking about 600rpm low.

The bigger head combo was closer....... down 31hp, but the rpm was correct.

From my perspective....... it’s pretty useless.

I tried 2 more.
The combo these types of calculators really doesn’t like is a std port BBM stroker that doesn’t have heads with fantastic flow numbers...... and this one is no different.

Pump gas hyd cammed Ede headed 505 is 76hp low.
Pump gas solid cammed Ede headed 493 is 105hp low.

I even tried a very normal SBC 383 combo with decent heads, CR, and a SR cam......and that too was off 47hp.

It’s probably the worst one of these things I’ve tried so far.

I put in stage 5 intake, 300 degrees at .050
471 ci , 15.0 dynamic & 500,000 cfm
I finally got my million hp @ a million rpm.
How long will my factory block last, lol
