UTG engine build "callout"

You know what? Didnt he have a build thread on here years ago on that dart? I vaguely remember him having the same "plan" for it. He was gonna spray a built slant six into the 10s.....that's about the ti.e he vanished from the site.

you know, i tried to look up that build and i found 400 of his posts
398 of which were for sale adds

the other two were on unrelated things going on in his life

  • Motor Trend is watching him... and making remarks. Steve D. commented on a recent video of UTG
  • Nick's garage watches him...
  • AHRA owner is in partnership with him
  • Other youtube channels calling him out - but really just using his name for hits on their own channel. Piggy back'n :D
184,*** subscribers and going up daily, new shop, people drove hundreds of miles to be a part of his grand opening.......

Me? I'm subscribed to his channel, watch some of his stuff, don't agree with everything but some stuff he is spot on. Like a lot of other channels I'm subscribed to..... :)

Yep..all; we can do now is wait I don't see them RK fellers taking the bait though I mean not without some modification to the rules. Who wants to take apart and reassemble junk just for the sake of...?
 
Who wants to dick around with a stock junk 2 barrel 318 what's the point? I mean that's like repairing a washing machine to see which one spins faster...:)

I get that sot of. I think the RKG guys may do it but the rules would have to change. What if one of those core engines has a nylon tooth timing set that is pure junk, you lose right there. What is Tony going to say "you have to weld each tooth up on that gear..." ;)
 
I'd like to see it. I wouldn't care who won, I'd like to see what they ended up with for power. Actually, with the rules more plainly written out, I think it would be fun to participate.
Keep in mind, MT guys started it with the "call out" first. If they call, Tony gets to chose the weapons. Isn't that how it works?? LOL

P.S. - Bottle Rocket cut a 1.72 60 ft time on all motor before blowing a LCA bushing?

I am going to add my two sense. Pun intended.

UTG has some good and useful information, some of which I took note of for buying my Duster, and even some during working on my Duster... granted, that is some, because like anyone else, UTG is not immune to playing it up for the audience, or else no one would watch.

I am also a fan of the RK guys cause they do have a lot of great information out there as well, and I use that info during my build too. And yes, they do play for an audience, but still great content and info.

So what’s this mean... everyone has an opinion and everyone plays to an audience.

In working on my Duster I have replaced more stuff because I don’t want to fix the junk... which 30-50 years ago... was top of the line. And I probably get flack for it, but when dealing with 50 year old parts... some are just junk... even if they were good.

I am redoing top half of the engine with new hydraulic lifters, pushrods, Harland Sharp rockers, etc. I hear the words “why waste time on the old cam that is in it when there’s better and you can afford it?”

It is simple, if I have the cam out, I am going to go thru the three year old rebuild of an engine and make sure bottom end is good as it is, because I am already in it that deep... and guess what... to me pulling the engine guarantees I will never drive the car again... I know me.

So some think it’s crazy to trust someone else’s work when found so much wrong already, I say who cares as long as get to enjoy it.

Back on topic... so many call outs all over the internet etc, who cares... all the ones that will be interesting get cancelled, why, because someone changes an unwritten, but understood rule... why... because it wasn’t in the rules that they couldn’t. Other person wises up and realizes it’s a waste of time and money and resources when the other person is already trying to change the name of the competition.

So let’s say you open an engine to flip the pistons... it’s 50 years old, it will need everything... and if built to the point you are looking for fractions of a horsepower of edge, who wants to run old junk that could fail and grenade your build?

If RK and UTG ever do a build off my money is on... ... ... hey look, UPS truck... packages!!

Seriously folks, I think it is a fun concept but I’d need an OK for an agreed apon piston and ring set incase of a surprise junk engine, say, a set of TRW or Federal Moutan replacement slugs that each team gets as well as a crank regrind for the same reason. There ain’t no sense from where I stand doing this without that possible concession. I’m also with a new single row chain.

What is FABO’s minimum replacement part list?

And one of those Ads were for some sorry Pulleys I bought from him. He loves to hear himself talk.... But he's making money on Ytube from you guys so if you enjoy him have at it.... I would rather watch paint dry.....
