Hey everyone. So I have a 1967 Dodge Dart GT hardtop 318/A904 that I’m fixing up to be my daily driver. This is my first Mopar, but not my first muscle car. Originally I was planning on redoing my completely worn out low back buckets with new foam/covers from Legendary. My only concerns are the lack of a head rest (impossible to find for ‘67) and the two point seat belt for a daily driver. Now I’m trying to consider all options, so long as I can maintain that vintage muscle car look/feel.

Should I consider some type of after market/other year high back seat? A 3 point belt conversion? Keep it stock? Thanks!

Turns out head rests were option in 67. Agreeded going to be hard to find.

68 up was option and then standard at some point.

Reason I point toward later year dart seats is that way it will be mostly plug and play.

As for 3 point seatbelts, they would need to be properly engineered to make things safer. Later year darts probably had them stock, 75 76 maybe so if you bought those and duplicated the mounting points you should be good.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I’m aware ‘67 headrests were an option. Unfortunately it appears they are very expensive and not repo’d.

3 point belts... I read a HotRod magazine article about putting a conversion into a ‘67 Dart that bolted up to the same location as later models. That what got me thinking about it.

Yes I’m leaning towards a later model (‘68+) seat with head rest or perhaps an aftermarket seat like a Procar 90. This isn’t a show car, and the seats will see a lot of use.

I saw these Procar 90s posted in another thread on here. I was surprised at how well they matched the car....

One of the things I'm thinking but have no proof of is would a 67 seat cover fit on a 68 up seat frame. That way you could keep the stock look.

If you'll have a seatbelt across your chest, you'll need a seat with latching back. That belt would hurt you a lot more if the weight of seat back went forward with you in a collision. 68 model got shoulder belts and manually operated latches on the hinged seat backs. Your 67 may not have a anchor for a shoulder belt behind the headliner. More likely to have a coat hook in that location.

I decided to go with with the Procar headrest seats, which obviously lock back. I have some service related neck and back issues so I think the seat swap makes sense for a daily driver.

I’ll look at seat belt options. Still trying to decide between 2 and 3 point. Thanks for the input everyone.

Well, just incase anyone cares to know... my Procar 90s came in 24 hours after ordering from Summit. They seem very comfortable and well made, especially for the price. I’ve added it to the pile of Dart parts. Time to get busy on the install!
