What’s the most oil your motor had consumed/leaked over a few day period
For me it was 27 quarts in 3000 miles. I went to Reno to pick up my 70 Dart. At first I got a lot of thumbs up and hey, nice car. When it started smoking like a mosquito truck no kudos. When I tore down the slant I’d swear it had all original gaskets.
My first car, a 72 Gold Duster /6
Had a junk Holley 1920 carb which dumped loads of gas into the engine
Which washed the rings, 24 quarts in 220 miles.
My special forces army buddy told the were to jump from a ch47 chinook which has 1000 feet of high pressure hydraulic lines. They continuously leak and require much time to repair. The crew chief was pumping hydraulic fluid, in flight,
Into the reservoir from a 55 gallon drum !!!

My neon got four or five oil changes in 300k+ miles. All I ever did was add more Mobil1.

And it never burned THAT much.

Had a Bread van with a 360 in it. Real low geared. I had a funnel going into the engine so I could add oil as I was driving. Over 2 quarts per 100 miles....

Probably 5 or 6 quarts in 10 seconds when somebody hit a rock and knocked a big old hole in their oil pan.

long ago, in a galaxy far far away, the neighbor kid brothers overhauled a 350 chevy in a 69 chevelle. they put a little oil on top of the pistons for lube and started it up and it smoked a little. they went to town,7 miles away and has to add 4 qts when they got to town. got back home and came over and asked me why it used that much oil in 7 miles. they looked at level and it was down another 4 qts. i told them that i would come look at it, just let me put tools up. went and put tools on work bench and found 2 sets of oil control rings. 1 used set and 1 brand new set under the shop towels. 8 qts in 14 miles. they pulled it back apart and i watched them this time.

'65 383 four barrel. All of a sudden 5qts in about 50 miles (maybe less). Even drove it five miles with the light on as there was no place to get oil where I was (high school football game out in the country - well, it was way out there in 1977, now it's in town...). Looked like a rear main seal so we pulled it out and put a 400 in its place. Still losing oil. The old mechanic who was helping told me to get an oil pressure sending unit...

80 model Ford Granada, 250 in line 6, coming home from work, something dinged the underside of my hood as I pulled away from a stop light. Car has a huge trail of smoke behind it along with an oil trail. 5 quarts in less than a half of a mile. Bakelite sender popped the underside of the hood & it pumped every bit of the oil out. I got it home, put a sender in it, filled it full of oil with a new filter. I drove it for another 3 years & sold it to some girl my brother knew. She wrapped it around a utility pole less than 2 weeks later.

I had a car that got to the point that it burned about 1 quart of oil every 70 miles. My commute to work one way was 32 miles.

So I got in the habit of just dumping in a quart from the used oil bin every night before I drove home.

My wife’s 86 lebaron gts. 2.2 turbo. Blew the oil supply line to the turbo. She drove it home instead of stopping.yea it used oil after that. Got it fixed up and drove it another 10,000 miles.

Bought a '65 Sport Fury in college with a 426 street wedge. Knew it was burning a lot of oil so we threw a few quarts in the trunk and took off on the 300 mile trip back home. Stopped to check the oil after 50 miles, three quarts low. Ended up in a Kmart parking lot in a larger town after 150 miles with no oil left and only about five cylinders still firing. Brother is in buying two cases of the cheapest crap they had while I'm cleaning plugs. Made it home without destroying the engine. Looking back, we'd probably been better off loading it up with STP but for some reason that didn't occur to us.

My 57 Olds used five quarts of 50W on a typical Friday night crusing "The Ave" in '65-'66.

Two heads that cracked between the oil passage and the combustion chamber was the reason.

Mikwaukee had a record low mosquito population during that time.
