Anyone used an 8 1/4" differential from a Didge Nitro in their A-body? I have one on my trailer now being scrapped tomorrow, and considering pulling for my Demon. Has disk brakes and factory LSD. Worth saving??

The rear disc setup will direct bolt onto an a A body 8.25 or 8&3/4 rear. I'd at least keep that from it. I believe the limited slip and ring and pinion will swap to an A body 8.25. I'd pull the complete rear and keep it to rob parts out of it.

I bet there are a few threads here about that. I remember seeing rear disc bolt on's from late model rears.

I grew up in the 60s.........I would never though anything away that contained LSD!!!!:thumbsup::thumbsup::rofl:

Scarebird Brakes offers some dual pattern rotors that would probably be worth looking into. Also, there's a thread on here from a ways back where someone was taking A body 8-1/4s and had Moser cut 8-3/4 axles to 27 spline and installing 8-3/4 / Dana 60 housing ends. I do know a 2000 Durango rear axle measures 42 inches across the spring perches that are on the bottom of the axle so it fits wonderfully with the 3/4 inch advertised inset spring hangers and offset shackles. The axle tubes are about a 8 inches too far past the spring perches but you use custom length axles and can inset them so the backing plate or caliper brackets are close to the springs and use 3-3/4 inch to 4 inch wheel backspacing. It's worth hanging on, but it seems like it's also a 29 spline unit.

Drilled rotors not needed. I believe Liberty and Nitro use same 5 bolt 4&1/2" circle as jeep cherokee which is the same as 73 up A body. The backing plates have the same mating flange pattern as 8.75. Several people have done this swap on Fabo. I am going xploder 8.8 however the parking brake setup on these and exploders is damn near identical.

By all means, save it and don't scrap it.
You can always do that later if you don't decide to use it or parts from it.........
