Hey guys, so I'm swapping in the new engine now. It's going to be a pretty hot street 416. 1972 dart swinger.

I thought since the engine that was in the car was a 360 I'd have no real issues with the swap. Well, one of the engine mounts is wrong and only two holes line up. I'm guessing this was a 318 mount?

Anyway so I've been looking for some new mounts but really having a hard time finding any. Do you have any suggestions?

That's not the correct mount for the driver's side 340/360 in a 67 - 72 abody....

Push comes to shove I'll fabricate something but I am super time strapped so I do tend to try to find things already made.

Yep. Hence the thread. Previous owner was a bit of a dope.

Then why a "help" thread instead of a "Wanted 340/360 A body engine mount" thread????

You may get better leads with a wanted thread....

Just cut that rear ear off the mount bracket, move it up to where it lines up the hole in the motor mount ear on the block and weld it in place. All of this is covered in the Mopar Engine book.

It's possible I have some other kind of mount here. There's no way I can just cut the ear of the mount and relocate it and have something that will be structurally sound. In addition to being low it's also a good bit wider than the engine lugs.

Anyhow if there's nothing out there I can purchase I may have to fab something.

So find a scrap piece of 1/4 plate and add to. People have been doing if for decades.

No help on your motor mount, but get that hood off it's rear corners. Lay it on its side for crying out loud........

Cut and section the mount…move hole to line up with the rear mount…weld back together

What years are the two blocks involved? Is the 416 based on a 360 block?

The 416 is 340 based. The engine that came out of the car is a 360 based 408. Not sure what years, I purchased the 340 as a bare block, the 360 was in the car but it's got some internal damage.

I already suggested that. He whined about it.
I didn't whine. I have three toddlers. Twin 2 year olds and a 4year old. Like I said I don't have much spare time on my hands. I'm not whining or complaining, just need something to bolt together if at all possible. I'll weld if I must but I have some other tricks up my sleeve.

Thanks for the heads up. It's sitting on a drop cloth. It'll be fine.

If it's still on the corners it will not be fine. It'll bend and warp the corners. They are a really small contact to hold up all that weight.

Here is what I'm planning to try. I work at a large fabrication manufacturer and can have pretty much anything needed made up. So I drew this up this morning and I'm going to have it cut. The way the stock mount attaches to the engine however I can't easily replicate, because the mount kicks out around the attachment nut. So I designed this mount to wrap around both sides of the mount lugs. Interestingly enough, the 360 block has thicker front mounting lugs, so I designed this to work with the 360 as well. I'll just pop some spacers in for the 340 block.

I was also thinking about making the biscuit mount holes into slots in order to allow LH/RH mounts to be the same. I'll have to think about that for a bit.

Had some prototype mounts made up. Test fit nicely. What do you guys think?
