Nameth was bad enough, 'specially when he gets his voice up in that high whiney place "but you have to CAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll.................."

NOW wez'nz got'z us'z da evawh ear-a tat-in' Jimmy "JJ" Walker AKA "DYN--OH--MIET"

WTF IS HE DOING "getting a 100 back each month to his social security?"

.........Plus he's just generally annoying

They are not even "Medicare" ads! If you listen to what they're saying (and read the fine print at the bottom)..............they are ads for a company that sells supplemental health insurance in addition to but not affiliated with Medicare. It will cost you extra money no matter what they say!!!!!

No it doesn't. It does exactly what they say it does. It's no cost coverage to those on Medicare and even pays BACK your Medicare premiums.

I have zero problem with it. Since they tax my social security, I'm going to damn well use their services.

It's based on the fact that private insurance can be more efficient than government run Medicare. On the same amount of money, they will give you what they promise (usually) and money back (sometimes).
Look up Medicare advantage programs. My Mom has one, and is pretty happy with it. But be sure to shop around and get as much information from as many sources as you can.

Most all of the big names are pretty good. If you see some you've never heard of, you probably don't wanna hear of um.

Yes those commercials are annoying, but nowhere near as annoying as the

Nearly My ***!! God I hated that commercial!!! .....Just about drop to the floor in the fetal position hearing that guys voice!!

Is it income based?

Pretty much, there is criteria that you have to meet, so it's tiered based on income. My wife just got a prescription plan, and they revue annually. She used it today for the first time and all I can say is wow.

Yup, I don't think I'd do business with a no name company that hires washed up football players and comedians.

Mom has had Humana and United Health Care. When one got to be a better deal than the other, she switched.

We sat down with our doctor when we first got our plan and we were both able to get him to agree to change all of our meds to tier one, so all of them are no cost now. Plus, they pay for all of diabetes and blood pressure equipment, one pair of diabetic or high end shoes like New Balance a year each...there's a lot more to it, but I don't wanna sound like Jimmie Walker. lol

You have to be careful on which plan you chose HMO or PPO. HMO you are required to stay in network. In other words the doctor(s) has to be in network. PPO is much better I think because you can go to any doctor any where as long as they take your Medicare replacement insurance.

The ones that promise the sun and the moon are most likely the HMO based.

That is important too. When your shopping for a plan. Check each plan to see what the medsYOUR on will cost you out of pocket. Tier one is free thru Tier 4 which will cost you the most. Plus there is this thing called the “doughnut hole”.After your plan pays a certain total dollar amount, the part they pay goes down and the part you pay goes up. To a certain total out of pocket for you. One drug I take started out costing me $47.00 month. Then you hit the doughnut hole and I pay $204.00 a month for the rest of the year.

Mine is a Medicare replacement. But there is no one best plan. You need to see the coverage and cost the the meds YOU take. If you travel a lot, you may want a PPO plan. This is what I have.

So we are talking about Medicare Advantage plans and not Medicare with a supplemental plan?

We have Medicare Advantage plans. They effectively take the place of Medicare.

I turn 65 next month and have been receiving tons of mail for Medicare. I can get totally confusing if you were to actually read it, which I don't.
We have an insurance broker and I make a phone call to him and he gets me signed up and will search the private insurers for the best plan for me.
Everybody is different and requires different plans and it depends where you live Lots of variables.

And from what I understand if you have an Advantage plan then all procedures you have done will have to be approved by the Plan. With Medicare you don't need preapproval.
And if you live in Florida your Advantage plan is invalid in any other state.
Someone that knows more than me about it can tell me if that's true or not.

I'm in the same boat. I turn 65 in September and I'm getting flooded with medicare this and medicare that! I have health insurance via my military retirement ( not the VA) that's pretty good and they have told me that I don't have to sign up for medicare but it's still confusing.
