Hey guys,

I'm building a 400 based 512 stroker for my wife's 68 Chrysler Newport 2 Door. Our goal is 11.00 flat in the 1/4 mile but very streetable. We do Drag week and this will be her car... so lots of street miles!

Goal is 600 Horse because the boat weighs 4,000 lbs. Going with the stroker kit from 440 Source and Trick Flow 240 heads should be 10.5:1 compression. Would like an intake that won't choke this thing but still fit under the stock hood. I don't think the trick flow single plane will fit under stock hood from the measuring I've done. Does that leave me with the Performer RPM? Thoughts on an old Torker if I could find one? Thoughts on a Street Dominator?

Here is a pic of the car and a cam card I'm considering. Having a stout 727 built and I've already scavenged a Dana 60 from the junkyard. Will have someone like Ultimate or Dynamic build us a custom torque converter. Going to run a 3.54 gear in the Dana.

I ran a Street Dominator on my 400/500 stroker with stock Eddie heads and a lot less cam. It ran 11.50's at almost 120 with 3.55's.

Oh man...this is hard.. lol.. do I..or do I not..lol

How about a 318 with 302 heads and street master? According to @Hysteric...that combo is the "11 second special".

He should be here telling you all about it any minute now..

Thank me later

Ok, I'm confident you'll get the right intake. But that car is just COOL !!!

Freakin A that is a cool car. Also love the Dodge Monaco of the same year. Did you think about asking this very question over at FBBO? Or FCBO?

I would forget about HP and focus on robust driveshafts and axles .
Make yourself a TORQUE MONSTER and forget about horsepower.
You will have a really driveable car and amazing ETs.
Probably a ported RPM intake for that combo .

If it were I, it would be the RPM, after I confirm the fit, over the Holley intake. Which would be fine as well.

Another low profile option that is supposed to work well with porting is the old Edelbrock DP4B. Not as good as an airgap, but still very good. When Dick Landy was building 440 based Strokers in the mid eighties, he would spec the RB version, the CH4B.

I do remember seeing an intake dyno test, where the original torker did surprisingly well. Problem is, I don't remember whether they were testing b's or rb's.
Tm6 is same height as the original torker, but has quite a bit taller runners. Might work better on a 512 than a 383.

I doubt the Holley SD will flow enough air to feed 512 cubes AND make enough HP to run 11.00 with 4000 lb. Nor do I think 11.00 with that weight will be 'very streetable'. At least not my definition of streetable. I think the M1 intake would be best for performance & hood clearance.

I second this. Just cross section the 302 heads, fill in the gaps with JB Weld. I would say use the 318 intake and do the same to it but LOOKIE HERE! I didn't even know they ever made one for a big block!

Agree, I saw the same Shoutout, IIRC the torker was best overall , having a great torque curve, which will add to the massive torque you will already have. I have seen them for $200-250

In that test if my memory serves the Torker won the peak torque award but was middle of the track in HP.The street dominator did very well in the test also. That was an rb manifold shootout.

I would say a TM6 or street dominator would do well. Some port matching or qualified porting on those intakes would help as well.
The MP M1 single plane would work also.

The car in my avatar ran 12.50's with a very mild 496 with 3.55 gears.

Anything in the 11's would be a hoot in a barge.

Oh yes, it's going to have 1350 U Joints and Moser axles. I'm no stranger to going fast. :)

Thanks for all the replies everyone! The Torker intake is another one I think would clear the stock hood and perform really well. From what I can find, out of all the intakes we are talking about, the RPM is the only one you can still buy new for a B engine. All the others I would have to find used.

I guess "streetable" is a relative term. My Dart has been 9.90 in the 1/4 mile and I drive it everywhere.

No, there are several on the Summit site new, although not in stock "right now".

I found a Torker on Ebay for $299, looks to be in really good shape. Might just jump on that. Don't want to over think this since these intakes are really easy to change. If we don't like the Torker we could always buy an RPM to install later on.
