can anyone help.
This is a 64 valiant rear. I am guessing that is the gear ratio stamped on the gear?.
323 or 291 ?
I see two numbers.
Thanks in advance.

Crappy photo, it does not show all the numbers.

If there are four more digits after the 291 for a total of 7 numbers it would be the ring gear part number.

That part number (2070588) does not show up in the 64 parts book. Might be newer then 64. Probably a 3.23 gear, as that ratio was available, but no 2.91 (2.93)

Yeah it's a 3.23. A quick nasty way to tell is look at the thickness of the ring gear. A 2.94 and numerically lower will have a noticeably thinner ring gear to make room for the whopper john pinion gear.

Go to group 3 rear axle section in the 1970-71 parts catalog. Then see text page 3-11. There you will find 2070558. This number will be found in 1969 thru 1972 parts catalogs in group 3.
