Dash Pad Experience

Just buy the 68 repro from PG classics or BEA parts.
Vans should be the same made by PG classics.

This is a BE&A upper pad...original lowers.

ABC Moparts is the best, but like many you will find out that the material everyone uses comes from China and most places do not have that material in stock right now! Once you narrow your list down to three, contact them and ask what the turn around time is RIGHT NOW, do not listen to others who had their pads done in 2019, the times have changed. Call Bob at ABC Moparts...
That's right.
I remember hearing about a shortage of the dense foam, which was already expensive.

Yeah, Im in the market as well. Hoping to not spend $700. Might just have to stick vinyl on the old one.
That's the thing...pre covid I spoke with Just Dashes, and well....bend over buddy.

It's bullshit and disgusting what they want for a vinyl covered piece of foam. You can buy a really decent cylinder head or crankshaft for the price. Jmo

So what about a re cover job? strip off old vinyl, fill divits with spray foam, cheese grate/sand, and recover with 1/4" foam backed vinyl? Am I crazy? (sorry, two separate questions there:D)

Good luck.
If I tried that, I already know the results would not be good.

I attempted to do that Rusty RatRod but the results I saw were not as good as using the proper method. Just Dashes uses a shrink wrap process that provides a factory look. a little more expensive but I figure I'm looking at the dash probably more than any other part of the car so I wanted it right.
I understand. I was just a thought.

Thanks. I just added abcmoparts to my list.

So far from all of the feedback on FABO I'm thinking based on price and availability of choosing between.

I like the idea of using my OEM dash refurbished as nothing is as good as OEM.
If you have any more thoughts, ideas or suggestions please post it here. Much appreciation for your knowledge and experience.

It has been a while since I've used JD so maybe they have changed. We spent 3000.00 have them do a complete 70 Cuda vert interior. Looked good be wouldn't go that route again.
Yes ABC uses an original core and they fit real good. Here is one of his E pads. Grain is real close to correct.

Gorgeous dash!

I will only add that BE&A is the US brother of PG Classics, which is Canadian. Not sure if there is cost savings to you. They share the same products.

Wow. I didn't know that. I'm wondering if that means the dashes are the same except for branding? Isn't PG more inexpensive then BE&A? Thanks

Not sure on pricing, but they are identical parts. I believe PG is the parent company. Peter Gee is owner I believe?

BE&A doesn't show the 68 pad on his site. When Mike came out with the 71-4 B pad I saw it at Carlisle and Mike wasn't very happy with my comments on it. Was an ABS frame and was as wavy as the ocean. I have used a lot of his other parts and he is a real good guy.

Just dashed did my 69 charger 8 months waiting but worth the wait, u will not get the stitching. But quality is excellent, high prices expect to pay.

Not a parent company. BEA is separate ownership.

BEA has many PG products that are same or similar.

BEA seems to get higher quality and or more accurate parts. For instance many of the BEA lenses have Chrysler part numbers where PG doesn’t. Also BEA part may be painted or detailed more accurate than a PG sold part. BEA also has/had exclusive parts. And the customer service is much better than PG.

Vans, Classic and many other places sell PG parts.

Thanks for the correction my bad. I guess i thought it heard they were the "same" due to product similarities.

Heres PG 68 dash pad
3888-68 Mopar 1968 A-Body Dash Pad

BE & A don't list 68 specifically and I believe 68 is unique as the top dash pad fits into lower corner dash pad pieces.

Thanks for the links. PG is a pretty reasonable price. Autoxcuda suggested PG dashes earlier in this forum. They might be the way to go. My interior is maroon and their dashes are only offered in a few colors one of which is not maroon. More food for thought thanks!

Long time ago I was looking for parts for my '72 Duster this was before internet. Heard about some obscure junkyard up in Washington and went to see what they might have. The place was way out in the woods in the middle of nowhere and I go down this long dirt road and there's a trailer as the office and you can see wrecked cars all behind it.. I go in the trailer in the guys yacking on the phone and I asked him about parts he goes I'll be right with you and just kind of points towards out back so I go for a walk around and don't see much of anything... So I go back in and I'm patiently standing there waiting for him to get off the phone and he can see me waiting and I can tell he's trying to get off the phone but the guy just won't let him off.. I looked out the back door and as I'm gazing I see this perfect dash pad laying in this car already extracted. I walk out check it out and walk back in with it and the guy is still yacking on the phone... I patiently wait until finally the guy gets off the phone and asked me he could help me and I said how much do you want for this dash pad and he said five bucks... I stayed colm and said sure and give him five bucks and he asked me if I wanted to received I said no I'm good got out the door as quick as I could and I think I sprayed rocks all over his shack I was trying to get out of there so fast...
That's my dash pad experience....
