kellyb44 contacted me today about a post I made looking for a crankshaft. Googled the phone number he's a known scammer.

Let me guess....
First post, doesn't have what you want , but has a buddy with exactly what you're looking for......

You can use the little report button, lower left corner, for such stuff.

Yep just joined to tell me his buddy had what I wanted.

Anybody heard from "our old friend" the VA? junk yard/ firefight/ master bull sitter and general fish hook bater? I don't even remember his name anymore.

Hey fellas, hit the report button. Posting in the General forum doesn't do much good. You are lucky I saw this and could get it handled right away before someone get's screwed without a kiss.

More eyes on it posting here, then hitting "report". I woulda done the same thing.
Hitting report doesnt spread the word.
Thanks to OP. Got that phone #?

The bottom line is the staff has to delete their account and allow the software to remove all the posts asap. We get notifications when it is reported. We don't when something like this is posted in General forum. By the time we happen to notice it the damage may have been done.

It appears the answer is to post a thread like this and then hit the report button on the guy.
Doesn't do any "regular" people here any good if it just disappears. No one will be on the look out if "report" and removal is all that happens. If they opened one account, there must be another dozen. I would assume this would be across all the for only boards.

posting here does a ton of good.. now everyone know about hoim and can protect themselves here and other forums.. i agree that it should also be reported though.

Ya, he tried to message me also
But by the time I woke up and tried to read the message
It was deleted, I guess by admin.
Many thanks, C

That's right. Reporting it to the staff does nothing to help the community, because they'd never say anything in open forum.

Speaking of scammers, haven't seen or heard much of BigBoy68 lately....

Is he still on the forum or has he been kicked off????

In some cases (for reasons beyond all comprehension), even multiple warning threads are Closed for Further Replies -- or essentially censored by being deleted entirely -- to the detriment of the hobby.

Everybody learns from feedback regardless of whether it's positive or otherwise. Bad sellers can perhaps redeem themselves if there's enough incentive to do so, and likewise be forced to find another 'line of work' if they choose not to.

His name doesn't populate when you type it in the search bar, so I'd say he's gotten the boot.
Good riddance, that SOB cost me money with his parts flipping scam.
I didn't loose money to him, but I had made a deal with someone for a part, he came behind me offered more money, buyer backed out, I found another but paid more for it.
A couple weeks later the original seller contacts me saying that bigboy68 was ghosting him, did I still want to do the deal. Sorry, no.

Every time I tried giving him the benefit of the doubt
He screwed me, either with his Monthy payment or his weak excuses.
I blocked him from any other conversation

Makes you wonder.
