Slowly working out the bugs to the new to me 68 Dart GT. I believe I have a variable speed wiper, but how do I know for sure? Only thing that works on the switch is the

pump. Motor has some funky cold solder joints which I'm not sure belong. I have a wiring diagram from Classic coming, but for now, was reaching out for general information. Thanks in advance

My advice is look up MyMopar and download a number of free service manuals. They all "say something" in section 8 about troubleshooting wiper motors. Make sure you get the right group --that's a 3 speed---the 2 speed/ variable speed are different.

Once again, 273 comes through. You have earned my respect once more. If I can, I might ask you some questions about my '70 Swinger 340. Respect sent.

A great direction, that's what I was looking for! Thank you much!

I wish I knew more about these. I'm just an "old guy" not a restorer. I've never had the resources to get into a few of them and really find out how they tick

That one "looks" like it's a 3 spd, but there are 2spds out there that look similar to yours. Any #'s stamped into the barrel of motor?
@moparmat2000 has rebuilt a couple.

A '68 A-body came with two choices, a 2 speed, and a variable speed. From the photo, it's not a 2 speed, but, it also doesn't look like the '67-8 version of the variable speed one either. Maybe more photos showing the whole thing? Your switch (assuming it's the original) will tell you what you should be using. A 2 speed switch will 3 positions.....off, low, and high. The variable switch will have the off position and then on with a lot of potentiometer range twisting from one end to the other. It will feel similar to the light switch dash light dimmer. Post some number off the switch and wiper motor and maybe we can figure out what you're supposed to have.

Here are some better pictures with part numbers. The switch feels like it's a variable speed. The wires soldered to the motor just do not look right, Going to a somewhat larger than I'm used to car show next week, hoping to find a Dart there I can compare
