Let's see 'em.

Kentucky allows it on the front, simply because they only require rear plates. Unfortunately, I can’t register my Duster using a 72 plate on the back.

Allowed in WA, but I dont run em as there are restrictions to driving.....ie must be going to car show or some kind of event. Its not really enforced, but I dont need the hassle.

yes if you mean the requirements with the plate and tags , but its not cheap . but this is calif the golden state , not just from the drought .

I have mine. Unfortunately "back then" Idaho alternated with a white background as the OP has, and a green background/ white letters in 67. I don't think they are as attractive

But in Idaho you can license them "as regular plates." You have to pay full state fees (which unfortunately have about DOUBLED in ID in the last few years, as well as an additional fee for the special plate

You only need one (rear) plate here, and I have a Mopar insignia plate on the front. One cop DID give me the royal once over one time but did not stop me.

i dont know if michigan does or not...but i can tell you when i went to get plates for the duster "71DUSTR" was still available

WI doesn't technically allow a model year plate, but I do have a 1927 WI plate on the front of my rat rod and nobody seems to mind.

NC does, but you have to keep your valid current plate in the car. The NCDMV doesn't register your car to the year of mfg. plate you put on it.

In California since 1963 the plates remained with the car and if you are lucky you still have them.

Your kidding in CA right? No way...

Guess someone doesn’t know.

YOM plates are allowed up until ‘69 in California. I have a set for my ‘56 Austin Healey.

21.260 Year of Manufacture (YOM) License Plates - California DMV

?

YOM has long been allowed in California, originally through 1962. About 2008 extended it through 1969 and recently to 1980.

Alan

You sure about 1980? Website still says only until 1969

The plates don’t have to be original to the car. You can buy a set of plates that would be correct for your year of car, bring them to the DMV to have them inspected and checked to make sure they’re clear. As long as they’re clear and in decent condition you should get approval to run them. You do need to have a pair and the condition is up to the person doing the inspection, so the required condition can be a moving target. The plates for the aforementioned ‘56 Austin Healey were added that way.

Connecticut allows too but you also have to have your current registered plate.

I was wrong....kinda

Collector License Plate Information and Application MV2323 10/2019 s.341.266 Wis. Stats.

A person who registers a Collector motor vehicle that was manufactured before 1979 may display a historical plate from or representing the model year of the vehicle when driving to or from a car show, or during a parade, if the registration and plates issued by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) are simultaneously carried in or, with the vehicle and are available for inspection by law enforcement, upon request.

California had the commercial plates somewhat correct but when they added the 70s blue plates they changed it, now not so correct (more limiting).

I run my original California plates front and back. Also have the original blue and yellow plates on my 1974 Bronco. Completely legal here.

my 64 d100 was replated with a 63 issued black plate but to use it it had to have a 64 tag on it . and the new tags had tobe placed on the mounting tab or plate .
