Getting screwed over on a payment for a parts purchase?

-
Leave the guy "Bad Feedback" on your 1st ebay purchase. Tell people he is a scammer so his ebay rating goes down and people will be less likely to buy from him.
My ebay purchase with him was almost a month ago.
That went well, no problems, issues.
I left positive feedback, at that time, as the transaction went well.
My current problem is with a private sale, between him, and me, during the past few days.

I was thinking maybe purchased like a cheap $7 item and everything went fine and that was more or less the bait... Around $100 is basically my threshold for online from a private party.. I can live losing that but getting into 500 or $1,000 from somebody I don't know I can't afford that..
I held my breath as I sent $$$$.$$ for my '76 Duster. Then the shipper had problems. Was I nervous? you bet! But the seller was outstanding and the car arrived and all the stories were legit. I don't advise it. But I was fortunate to have a honest person at the other end ! About 1500 miles away from me at the other end ... LOL

Is that the case these days? In years past the seller was the only one who could get punished for abusing the platform.
But that was from the days before china retailers took over the whole damn site.
I know that it's hard not to buy foriegn products as so much is made over seas. This is why I really have a hard time with buying Chinese made intake manifold and cylinder heads when edelbrock is made here, and are some of the afr heads. It's some of our own faults, as everyone wants everything cheaper. My dad knew a older guy that drove a hour to buy his clothes as they were union made in America.

I had a guy do me dirty on e-bay parts that were listed as new and were obviously used. he tried to game me out with the usual: I've been doing this for 30 years and you don't know **** spiel.

I wound up getting my money back after the whole debacle. but the guy was a total douche canoe about everything.

then he started spouting off on a forum about me, and how I had ripped him off and nobody should buy or sell with me.

wrong move. I had his name and address from shipping. a little google-fu dug up his place of work. a quick email to his work with some screen shots of his nasty messages to me thru e-bay and on that forum prompted a phone call from somebody higher up in his company asking for confirmation and more evidence of his malicious behavior.

he was shown the door over that. all for less than $200

and this wasn't some kid farting around. dude was in his 60's and a mid level manager at an international company.

so, what I'm saying is you have some recourse if you have a little information and a bit of spare time on your hands...

Hopefully he can sue them for unjustifiable termination. I know that he did you wrong but getting him fired for it was wrong too

I might be the one that may possibly had Pay Pal pay the wrong party.
Don't know yet how were going to figure it out, as my Pay Pal page doesn't give me that type of information.
Don't know if i paid john xxxxxx @ xxxxx or johnb xxxxx @ xxxxx
Putting in the mans middle name initial, or leaving it out, in the e mail address, would that make a difference?
Could two different people, have the same e mail, but are different just by the middle initial letter?
Then did i give somebody, the wrong person, a 113 dollar bonus?

if you show yourself to be a deceitful person then you have what's coming to you. I'm sure any employer would want to know if their managers were conniving and dishonest as well as vindictive and peddled in retaliation.

I gave him several options to do right and come to an agreement as adults. he lost the ebay transaction so he decided to go after me publicly and endanger my livelihood. when called on that and asked to back down he was childish and disagreeable.

play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

You should be able to check that you sent the payment to the correct email address. And yes, one letter WILL make a difference.

Well, that's different. I didn't realize that he was doing that. I don't blame you

I don't make a lot of private party transactions online, but have really only had one problem and it was over a $10 part. Envelope arrived sealed, but buyer claimed the part was not in it. He sent pics which really meant nothing. I wasn't going to hurt my reputation over $10.

Yeah that would make a huge difference. Same as sending a letter to 100 or 1000 main st.

Verify the address, sometimes teh money will sit unclaimed. If you sent it to the wrong email, you might be able to get some help from paypal.

Blast out his full name if you have it. If someone researches his name for a review, they`ll find it through this thread.
Exactly. He won't like it that he's been outed on a forum with a 50K plus membership.

If that's the case, he won't be afraid of a phone call. If he takes it and is cordial about the situation, chances are pretty good he's tellin the truth about not receiving the money. Good luck with it Jim, I hope you get it worked out.

You are definitely unable to change the course of your feedback. And since it's F&F Paypal will not accept a dispute however if you chase the chain of command long enough someone may send an email or 2. And that's about it. For $113.00 there is no gain for a day in court.

You are one of the most square sellers I have dealt with. And you let your guard down. For what you lost it's a minimal loss considering what "could be!" Unless you have an established relationship with someone F&F is no longer an option for transactions under any circumstances... When someone pushes the issue I walk away from the deal. End of story!
