I’m not posting this to incite an argument or to have a debate based on stupidity on anyone’s part. This is a newspaper article from a town 20 minutes down the road. I am only posting this to warn all of us out there buying and selling anything to be cautious. I’m not saying this could happen to you but better safe than sorry. Lowlife mothers lurk around every corner.

Some of that stuff looks so real you wanna try launderin it at the bank. lol
 
Yep, I have a bunch of that fake stuff. I usually use it to screw with new guys at work. Looks real and feels real, especially after folding and crumpling it to make it weathered. It would be very easy to slip a couple bills in a large stack when making a big cash purchase, so be careful.
 
I just bought a $4000 used car with 100s that look just like that...except for the words written on them of course...:0
 
I used to work for a very large auction inspecting cars that would come in to sell. I once found " $400" of motion picture money. We uses to mess with other inspectors by putting a bill I'm the ashtray or glove box and a couple of us guys would stand back and laugh our asses off when we'd see the look on the guys face when he'd find it. I
 
I used to live within 20 minutes of Monett and Cassville, in Mount Vernon, MO.

You know what the difference between fake money and real money is? What you know about it. That's it.
Literally, nothing else changes.

If I got paid in fake bills on a car, I'd shut F up, and spend it discretely here n' there until it was gone. It's no more fake than the government money, it's just that nobody really thinks about it.
What are you going to do with 'real' money'? Tell the government that you want to exchange it for gold or silver?

$18,500 worth of counterfeit $100 bills equals a potential 185 felony counts if it's all spent "discretely here 'n there until it was all gone".

Funny you should post this today. I just narrowly avoided being scammed on a modern car purchase after I ran a carfax and realized the odometer was rolled back (note to self: get a carfax before paying for the car). The scammer agreed to void the sale and gave me cash back today since my check had already cleared. I went to my bank with the cash and they scanned it- all was okay and the clerk mentioned that most counterfeit bills they see are motion picture money.
 
anything made of paper can be faked. cash, bank checks, money orders... etc.. etc. wire transfer is the safest way in my opinion. can't hide it though so many won't do it.
 
My nephew got back $3 in movie money from a $5 at the Dollar General the other day.
Didn't notice it until he handed it to my brother.
 
ol boy near here was saling a 69 rs/ss camaro and buyer gave him a citified check that was fake for 50,000 bucks, he was smart enuff to hold car till check cleared or didnt in this case!

bout 10 years ago i go to my boss's bank and cash my paycheck 1800 bucks, went to my bank to deposit in in my account and had 11 counterfet 100 dollar bills! went back to boss's bank and thay made good on them....i was bout sick to my stumic for bout 15 minutes....

I stopped at a bank in Ridgeway, VA about 20 years. Walked up to the outside ATM and got $100. I counted it as soon as it was dispensed. One of the $20 bills looked slightly off in color so I went inside the bank and asked to swap it so someone wouldn't think I was trying to pass a counterfeit bill. She looked at it, asked me to wait, showed it to another lady. Lots of whispering going on behind there. One asked the other "So you can clearly see him getting it from the ATM?". The answer was "Yes".
This whole time I started to worry that I may be suspected. But they reviewed the footage from the ATM camera. Then I heard one of them say "We are going to have to review our ATM procedures".
She handed me another $20 and I was on my way. After that, anytime I used an ATM, I would always hold up the money in front of the camera and fan it out so it could been seen clearly before leaving... just in case.
 
And all this BS is why my 67 notch fish will likely sit where it has sat since covid lock down. More headache than its worth to try to sell it, here, ebay, craigs list, anywhere. Sure I would like for it to have a happy new home but to leave me unhappy? Feck that. We got our happy from it.
