I imagine the manufacturers are shifting engineering disciplines because of forced regulatory changes. Less mechanical, more electrical ..
I got to check out the new straight 6 twin turbo this weekend (guy i went to get my seats from is one of the top engineers and had a test truck at his house... ) Those things run sooo smooth you can't really tell they are running from inside the truck and make great power...
One thing he told me i found interesting was they would have kept making the hemi forever if they could have.. and that each one made only cost chrysler $2100..

Makes sense, but Engineers, Software and Technology folks sounds like the people to do that. Possibly different disciplines from ICE to Electric
