I think I may have the last 66 Barracuda built and maybe the last A body built in 1966. It is a 1966 Formula S California car. It seems to have every option available unless one cancels another out. It has a vinyl top, AC, and disc brakes . Does anyone have a car with a later build date than July 18th ?

Not sure when they stopped the 66 production. The latest seen scheduled assembly date for model year 1965 is 730. July 30 1965.

In over 45 years of looking, I think I have the earliest known '66 Barracuda. Anyone have a build date earlier than 8/17/65?

I'll check mine but I doubt it. That's early. Did you find anything on it that carried over from 65 that isn't normally on a 66 ?

so, lots of options, but NOT the console ('a' is blank). Kinda odd for a FS, but not unique.

Not a great pic, esp. on the right side, BUT...
Top row - b4 (Buckets), p6 (LH remote outside mirror), I don't see anything else in qrtuwy.
2nd row 325917 is 4bbl commando 273, 904 Auto trans, CAP package, and Formula S package, front discs, then R1 (usual AM radio), S1(A/C and Heater), T7 (Tach, part of the FS package), then MAYBE a digit under Y (that SHOULD be the vinyl top code)
Bottom row - 7/18 'born on date', 00268 sequence number, BP29 (Barracuda), P4H (red vinyl interior), PP1 bright red body color, NO stripe, and Bright Red interior door tops.

Any chance you have a clearer photo, or one after it was cleaned up? Build sheet or IBM Card? Can you tell me the code under the Y, or is that just rust? WAs it a black vinyl top?

THANKS for the example.

When I can better get to it I'll get a better pic. I believe that is an inspection punch unnder the y and it has a white vinyl top. It also has a console and car seems to be original as far as parts go. Thanks.

I willl also add that I don't believe the car ever had the disc brakes on it although it calls for them .It had 9 inch all around and didn't look like they were ever changed. Had the disc brake master cylinder with the added reservoir on top.

Sure, nything with an emblem used the old Valiant style instead of the new Plymouth emblem and fish....grille, horn button, wheel covers, and back glass chrome.
