Hey guys I found a great parts car that has all the front end parts on it to do a front disc brake swap and i'm wondering if the parts off of it will fit onto my 74 scamp??The parts car is a 69 dart. If not what other cars could i use the parts from. Thanks.

If those are the original disc brakes on the 69 they would be K-H 4 piston calipers and small bolt pattern rotors. You wouldn't want that brake system on a 74 but I'm sure someone here would want them for their earlier A.

agreed. plus the KH brakes bring decent money

Number 1
The 1969 bolt pattern is smaller, and it limits your choice of common wheel sizes, and you would have two different bolt patterns on your car.
Number 2
The K-H 4 piston calipers can be troublesome compared to the single piston calipers that are much more common.

I'm sure there are a couple more, but just those two should be enough. Get the parts off the car and advertise them here, get the front spindles and rotors and calipers from a 73-76 A body and bolt them on instead, and you may even be able to pocket some money.

So you mean in 1969 small bolt pattern is smaller then other years or what do you mean by that?? I would love to pull the parts off a 73-76 a body but i just can't find any cars or anyone who has any of those parts. I found this car and jumped on it because it's cheap and it's an a body.

upper and lower ball joints are different too. You probably should have another look at the 69. Maybe they are later model brakes that someone else put under it. Good luck

Ya that's what i hoped. I just emailed the guy and asked him if they are the original brakes or if the dart had been converted. I also asked him if it's big or small bolt pattern so keep my fingers crossed and maybe it'll be big. Thanks for the advice guys keeper coming if you know any more.

O and also the guy said that these brakes will fit on my car and i told him exactly what mine is. Disregard the rest of the stuff, will these brakes fit on??

an easier way for him to identify the brakes is to ask , single piston floating caliper or 4 piston fixed caliper ?.

Now Can those disc brakes be put under your car ? Yes.
Would it be wise to do so ? No.
buy the K-H brake system if the price is right, then offer them as trade for 74 correct setup.

hmm ok i don't care about small bolt pattern, mine's already a small bolt, pattern cause it's a /6 with a 7 1/4 not the 8 1/4 plus the 8 3/4 i'm buying shortly is out of a 69 dart and also is small bolt pattern. Does that change the situation??? Thanks a lot.

Your car is smallpattern because of drum brakes up front.

Those 69 brakes will work if the original KH style. The upper control will need to be swapped to the early style. If you check the nut holding the upper ball joint nut on your car, if it's a 13/16 or 7/8 it's the big ball joint. Small is 5/8-11/16" IIRC.

Hey its your car. If you want limited wheel choises and all the other headaches, go for it. I would opt for aftermarket axles and green bearing in the 8&3/4 with large bolt pattern and 15 inch wheels but thats just me.
If you do buy a 69 K-H brake system, buy it all, upper and lower arms, and swaybar if its there too. Good luck either way

Thanks man ya i'd love to put a nice willwood conversion kit and buy better axles and all that great stuff, unfortunaly i just don't have that kinda money and have totake what i can get, in this case brakes off a 69 dart, Thanks though guys now atleast i know what i'm getting into.

your not limited to just a-body parts. http://www.bigblockdart.com/techpages/spindles.shtml

yes the KH 4 piston will work fine. and you having drum brakes make you have small 4" bolt pattern i believe. most go witht he single piston brakes with 4 1/2" bolt pattern. parts for the small bolt KH are quite a bit more expensive to replace then the 73-up style

ya that's what i'm being toldand yes my car is small bolt pattern. unfortunatly i've had no luck what so ever with finding 73-76 disc brake stuff, like nothing so i figured if this'll bolt on that would work for me

I've got a set of BBP spindle/uppers/brackets.

Not sure what shipping to Canada would run.

ya i'm noy sirehow much that would be. So if i pulled all these parts off of this dart , could i then change the spindles to bbp?? That would be great if i could.

lol sorry bout the typing i meant to say i'm not sure how much the shipping would be. I know sometimes people have problems with it coming over the border and then have to pay some pretty outrageous fees. Atleast that's what i'm told.

update, he says that the brakes are big bolt pattern and that he thinks that it was converted, ie. not the original brakes. What can you guys make of this?

It's a common conversion to use LBP spindles and disc brakes from a '73-up A-body on '69 Darts. The very same conversion was done to my '69 Dart before I bought it.
The LBP brakes on the '69 Dart you're looking at will fit perfectly on your '74 Scamp. Just make sure to verify they're large ball joint spindles as said by crackedback.
Then buy aftermarket LBP rear axles for your 8-3/4 and you'll have matching bolt patterns. You'll also have a MUCH larger selection of wheels to choose from.

If it has calipers that look like this... it's BBP and BBJ. Get the upper control arms, you'll need them.

Here's what a set of KH brakes look like.

Another telltale. KH backing plates are flat, no ribs, the BBP brakes the plates have ribs in them.
