I have found a 64 Dodge Dart that we will look at for my daughter. The motor is a 74 and from I have been told will need replacement motor mounts. The motor mounts that were used was 74 instead of the 64 and the motor is sitting on the K member.
Not sure exactly what we will need to do but before we buy it...I wanted to make sure that we can get these parts.

Thank you
Rick

I have a complete set I bought for my '65 then I sold the car before putting them in!
Includes both Motor Mounts and Trans Mount.
If you are interested I have $52.00 in the set......

Yup. You'll need the left and right motor mount brackets (that bolt to the block) from a '62-'66 A-body slant-6. You can get pathetic compressed-cow-poo mount insulators from India that will fail in short order, or you can get these that will last the life of the car (or almost...we are talking about a slant-6 Dart here!)

Ya made me go look slantsixdan!
Yes mine are DEA Products....Made in India.

im doing a v8 swap into my 64 dart that has a slant in it. i should take it out in three weeks at the most. if you still need them ill send you both for shipping charges.

We are going over to look at the car tomorrow afternoon. If we do bring the car home...I will let you know.
Thank you for the offer

I would be interested in the slant six oil pan and pick up tube/screen, if you want to sell them.

sure just let me pull the motor. pm me

Tried to post a picture of the little 64 Dart GT that we went to look at but it wouldnt work... Fell in love with it and will be making a deal for it....

OK...the motor is a 74 and the car is a 64...Will a normal 64 motor mount work?

Yes. You will also need to use the correct ('60-'66 A-body) oil pan and pickup; see here and here, and if your car has an automatic transmission, you need to make sure the 1/8" adaptor ring is present between the ('68-up) larger crankshaft counterbore and the ('67-down) smaller torque converter nose, or you will rapidly eat the transmission front pump seal and bushing; see here. Other than that -- no problem.

OK... I will be getting the stock 225 that was pulled out. I would if I could just pull that pan and pickup out and put it on the 74 thats in the car now.
Sometimes when people start moving stuff around ...they have no idea what they are doing...
The transmission that is behind the 74 motor...I believe that is also a 74. It was installed with the motor.

Swaping the pan and pickup is the thing to do.
What trans is in the car, auto or stick? What type of shifter is in the car?

The 74 motor was put in the car already by a couple owners back. The car is an automatic push button. I sure hope that the adapter ring was installed when the 74 motor was installed.

Not if it's automatic. The '66-up automatics are rod-shifted, and not compatible with the '65 and earlier cable-type shifters (including the pushbutton shifter in an automatic '64 Dart).

I put a new slant 6 in my 64 gt last Fall. I ordered the motor mounts new from Paddock, they were very reasonable.

ok....from what I am understanding from all of this is..

1. Need to check the pan on the motor to see if its a 74 pan instead of a 64 pan. If its the 74 pan then I need to replace it with the pan and pickup off of the 64 225 that we will be getting in the deal.
2. Drop the trans to see if the adapter ring was used around the convertor snout. If this adapter ring is not there...then we need to order one and get it in place. Hopefully the seal has not been beat out...

Have I left anything out?

Rick

Correct.

Correct. Replace the seal anyhow while you're in there. It's easy and cheap.

The mounts from Paddock are the compressed cow-poo items from India. They work OK for a couple months, then you get to buy them again.

If the pan is wrong that may be the reason that the motor is touching the k member. By putting the correct pan on the motor mounts may be correct.
When you say the "seal"... you talking about the one on the front of the transmission right?

Well looks like it will be get dirty time when we get the car home...
Oh well......

Also if I need to get one of those front pump seals...where is a good place to get it???

Also thank all of you for all the replies and help..

Rick

Totally standard part will be available locally through any good auto parts jobber, or you can get it from Pat Blais when you order the adaptor ring that almost certainly didn't get installed.

I havent met you but you really know how to crush a guys hopes......lol

Again thank you for all the information..

Rick
