Will S/W gauges work with stock sending units?

yeah, that's pretty much the game. i just went thru this whole hoopla with a temp & fuel gauge, thought i'd save a few bux and order up some "universal" units, and after a few rounds of dicking around with crap *** crap quality and rubegoldbergain fittings and tearing my hair out over how much...

Will S/W gauges work with stock sending units?

Doesn't it depend on the resistance the gauges are designed for and the resistance the sending units produce ? It not universal.

Will S/W gauges work with stock sending units?

SW stuff works with their sending units. you can buy aftermarket/generic sending units but it's kind of a crap shoot as to the accuracy and quality. they 100% don't work with stock sending units-- at least the ones i tried.

Builders: Square engine, Over Square, or Under Square for you?

Obviously nothing about that engine is stock but it does show there's nothing wrong about the basic short block, bore stroke and rod ratio. Put a great top end on it and gonna get decent results even without adding stroke, and no reason to an extent that a 383 or even a 361 couldn't do well. And...

It is a addiction. For me If it was such a good deal It's like a guy had no choice not to buy it. After long enough and to many parts a guy had to realize that maybe we don't need to take advantage of every good deal lol. I've had to just stop looking at wanted adds for the longest time...

    Any Pertronix experts here?

Using a coil with high pri resistance results in less spark energy, all else being equal. If the module will work with a coil that has 0.6 ohm pri resistance, I would find an E core that has ~0.6 ohm pri. They are more efficient than canister coils. There is a reason GM was able to run 0.080"...

What dashboard gauges are most useful for a slant?

All I have on Vixen is the stock cluster with fuel, temp, amp and oil LIGHT. I do have a small Sun tach on the left side of the column. I did however later on put an oil pressure gauge under the hood, simply because I was curious. 75 plus cold idling and 45-50 hot idling and it zips to 75 plus...

HEI Conversion Question and Holley 2280 Lingering Issue

It is a good idea to twist the p/up wires, but not mandatory. Check for p/up air gap, should be 0.008". Make sure there is an air gap for each reluctor tip. Contact between p/up & rel tip results in no spark on that cyl. Keep the p/up wires away from: coil - wire, tach wire, high tension leads...
