340 Oil Priming Question First Start

Most auto parts stores will have a multi-compartment box behind the counter with both US and metric plugs. If you drilled a hole in the plug to remove it, braze/weld the hole, or put the screw back in. Or just leave the whole thing alone, you have oil to the top, you always did, (put the 2 bolts...

340 Oil Priming Question First Start

Just a side note, I had a coupla engines break rocker shafts. The oil pressure gauge banged off "0" psi at 1/2 engine rpms. So pump resistance should reduce a bunch as the passage opens.

340 Oil Priming Question First Start

My concern was a novice trying to align, put the rockers pushrods back in correctly, and the "why are some taller than others" valve spring questions . I was good till you got to taking rockers off. Carry on .

340 Oil Priming Question First Start

Yeah, take out the 2 bolts, start the drill/(turn the key) rotate crank at least 2 rotations, - 2 geysers to the ceiling, reinstall bolts, button it up. No messing with rockers etc, jmo

Doug's headers not fitting - frustration

Bob, the only other time I saw an issue like this, the installer didn't know the engine sits something like 1 1/2 inches to the passenger side, and he had centered the engine in the frame and had major issues like you. I'd really be interested, I'm sure I asked before, where your engine/crank...

340 Oil Priming Question First Start

That hole thru the rocker shaft can be probed all the way to the cam, but I don't recommend it, if you chop the end off with the cam, drama. There's a bend and a restriction at the hd gskt,

I'm really at a loss as to why you're having so much trouble Bob, I wish I had a magic wand to help you out. I have had to remove the steering column and remove a few inches off the bottom of the column, and move the lower bearing up. I really don't remember which vehicle. Make sure you contact...

Hey Les, the old linelocs would occasionally leak, there was a kit avail, did a couple. Haven't had to try and repair a new style . Good luck https://www.amazon.com/Hurst-5671500-Line-Lock-Rebuild/dp/B000COATYG?tag=fabo03-20

340 Oil Priming Question First Start

These are 3 old cams I had in my shop, 2 have oiling holes in the same position in relation to keyway, the other is different, so using timing marks isn't reliable to find rocker oiling location. I don't have a timing set handy to set the cam timing up to crank.

340 Oil Priming Question First Start

Excuse me, but you really only need to pull the second rocker shaft bolt back on the drivers side, and the 4 th rocker bolt back on the passenger side to expose the oil gallery. Oil will shoot outta there when you get the right positions.

Line lock help, it's making me crazy!

You have front and rear brakes, dual master, the proportioning valve should be between master cyl and rear brakes only, with no effect on front brake pressure/application. The front brake circuit should have the line lock only. Once triggered, It should hold whatever pressure you apply, also has...

Short Shaft Slip Yoke 727's in Old Airport Tugs?

Our Ferry Corp bought about a dozen "retired" ones to move baggage carts back and forth from the ferry to the terminal. I don't think any 2 were the same, "like a box of chocolates", everytime you lifted the hood, you never knew what power/trans/diff. They were geared to "tug", - top speed, high...

    Z Bar

The first coupla z-bars I altered, I had to re-alter (re-clock) as well, lol The spring clip is easily overlooked, thnx Dave. The bar in backwards/reversed can mess it up too. Good luck, and patience .

    Z Bar

The other common problem is wrong pivot mount on trans. The z-bar should be sorta square to the engine/trans assembly. Check a few posts ago. (trans section) Uncle Bob? Had some decent pics from above of shaft "attitude".

    Z Bar

Edited last picture The down arm should swing freely between the two upper tubes. Adjust (bend) as nec. after the above modification.

    Z Bar

If you modified the z-bar, or not, this is what the mod should be. We had a fella mod the z-bar, but "clocked it" wrong and kinda had issues like you are experiencing.
