    Oil additives

Just because something is on YouTube, that doesn't mean it is true. I don't use oil additives, but I certainly would not let one internet video convince me that they were bad.

Thinking of switching from M1 single plane to LD340 but LD340 would need to be milled to fit. Is it worth it?

I'd sell the LD340 and put an Air Gap on it. I LOVE my Air Gap.

New Mancini Timing Cover Fitment Issue

Assuming the 1832 is 183.2mm and the 2153 is 215.3mm, that would be 7.21" and 8.48" respectively. That is a 1.27" difference on just that one measurement. I would get a refund from Mancini and buy a good used one.

Are Speedmaster Heads Good? I've Heard a Lot of Bad Press on Edelbrock 340 Heads Lately

I have been thinking about getting some performance heads for a while. Maybe I should have bought some Edelbrock heads before the quality went downhill. I understand that since the company was sold, quality control has left the building. I have a few questions: 1. Where are Edelbrock heads made...

Paint it, Clear it or Let It Rip?

You missed a spot. Ha Ha. Seriously, It looks really good. That is an amazing idea. A few years ago, I had a big problem with sealing the housing to a new Eddy Air Gap. I tried several gaskets with several types of sealant, and I tried filing the surfaces to flatten them. I finally bought a...

Paint it, Clear it or Let It Rip?

It is. I always thought it would be easier if the relief was in the manifold. I always put a few small dabs of gasket sealer in the relief of the housing and then put the thermostat in the housing and give the sealant a few minutes to set up. Then install the gasket and place the housing on the...

340 exhaust heat shield needed for Van's to repop.

You do make a good point. It would be interesting to know what the tooling cost was and what it costs to stamp and produce every one of those 69 rear decklid panels. 69 was the lowest production year of the 67-69 Barracudas, so it is a rather limited market to start with. I wonder how many of...

340 exhaust heat shield needed for Van's to repop.

If I was doing an accurate restoration, I would GLADLY pay $300 for a part that is otherwise unobtainable. Sometimes people really crack me up. They ***** and complain because certain parts are not being repopped. Then, when a company drops a fortune on making the part, and charges an...

    Advice needed on manifold repair

It truly is JUNK. There are plenty of 340 manifolds out there. I sold a very nice one about 2 years ago the third time I listed it for, I think, $125. The first two times I listed it I started heard nothing. FWIW, Take the loss and move on. It's like this. If you had a 69 Roadrunner with the...

    One for the epoxy lovers

I'm pretty sure it doesn't. I do a lot of powder coating. I have gotten pretty good at coating badly pitted and damaged metal. I do whatever I can to repair the metal (weld, sand and hammer and dolly), and then use JB Weld like filler. It fills in pits and other flaws, sands smooth like filler...

    Blueprint crate engine

I see what you are saying, but how many of us have ever said, "Wow, why would he want to stuff a 426 Hemi in his 67 Barracuda?" or "Nah, I don't want any more HP because I am not going to race my car".   Seriously though, I think you can put in whatever kind of an engine...

    340 Camshaft

I have a 69 Barracuda with a 340, 4 Speed and a 3.55 Sure Grip and headers. About 12 years ago, I added an Edelbrock Air Gap, 750 CFM carb and a Comp XE268 cam kit (cam, lifters springs). It is an awesome cam. It sounds great and has lots of power. I can melt the rear tires. This combo is good...

Well that’s the best I can do on this set of heads.

I have heard of 2.05 Intake valves for SBM heads, but never 2.08. Do they even fit?

    Comp's XE Cams

I also have the XE268. It is awesome. It has a nice lope to it, and it really gives the HP. The sound from the exhaust is so sweet, I haven't noticed any valvetrain noise. I have 2.25 exhaust system with two low restriction turbo mufflers. It sounds sweet!

Am I Going To Be Happy With This Camshaft?

@Bodyperson The gears were, and still are, 3.55. With your setup, I am guessing you will be at about 375 HP, maybe more. Do you think 600 CFM is enough carb. It will be great for driving around town and doing burnouts, but I think you are giving up at least 20-25 HP by not going with a 750. I...

Am I Going To Be Happy With This Camshaft?

You should like it. It is similar to the Comp XE268 I have in my 340, and I love it. I don't think a stock converter is going to work well for you. I converted to a 4 speed many years ago. While my car was still an automatic, I can tell you that the 727 with a stock converter would kind of...

    Clearcoat on engine

Clear works fine on an engine. Duplicolor and VHT both make high temp clear engine paint. I'm sure that other companies do also. I have used the Duplicolor clear with ceramic (over Duplicolor engine paint, of course), and it worked fine.

65 dart 273, No fuel from pump to carb!

Fuel tank could be filled with enough rust and crud that the filter sock on the pickup in the tank is clogged. Try taking the fuel line from the tank off and blowing air into it (mouth or compressed air at a low setting) while an assistant takes the gas cap off and listens at the gas cap hole...

    Exhaust Manifolds

Plus, if you buy them from Summit and they don't fit, Summit will take care of the return. That is what happened to me 30 years ago. I bought a pair of Headers from Summit (I really do not remember the brand for sure; might have been Hookers) and they absolutely did not fit. I think the flange...
