Car located in Ventura County, Southern California. 1973 Plymouth Duster. Original 318 2bbl/904 car. I have had and enjoyed this car since 2006. It has a clean title in my name and has always been garaged. All new engine bay wiring/harness. Now a warm 318, with FiTech fuel injection...

    Police Wheels on 73 Duster

Looking to put some Wheel Vintiques 15x7 police wheels on the front of my 1973 Duster, and 15x8 on the rear. Both have 4” backspacing. The rear is a stock A body 8 ¼ with drums and the front brakes are stock rotors. Does anyone see any potential fitment issues? Rear tires are 255/60/15s.

    Rally Wheel Backspace

Actually meant adapters. Used them to push the edge of the wheel out closer to the edge of the wheel well, so that it looked more in line with the front wheels and the wheel wells looked more filled in.

    Rally Wheel Backspace

Was running an inch width hub centric adapter/spacers from ebay, but started getting a wheel wobble on the fall fling cruise so I took them off and it went away. Looks like some material was displaced from the spacer. Maybe some different spacers would work better.

    Rally Wheel Backspace

Sure do. Trying to get rid of the current 15x7 Torq Thrusts bc they just look goofy compared to the 15x7s also in the front.

Also looking at Wheel Vintique steel wheels as well.

    Rally Wheel Backspace

Looking to put 15x8 Wheel Vintique rally wheels on the rear of my 73 Duster. The ones I am looking at are 4.5" backspace. Will this work ok with stock height rear, SS springs with a leaf removed on each side, 255/60/15 rear tires? Or do I need another backspace? I will be running 15x7s in the front.

[WANTED] 15x7 and 15x8 BBP Steel Wheels

I am looking for a set of 15x7 steel wheels for the front of my 73 Duster, to be used with 225/70/15 tires AND two 15x8 steel wheels for the rear. Big bolt patter 5 x 4.5 required. I am open to any condition, but pics would be great. I am located in Ventura County, here in California, so...

    Pinion Angle/Tailshaft Bushing

I don’t see an issue with driveline parallelism to the vehicle centerline. What is more likely is one of the motor mounts sitting higher than the other in my case. After lots of time to determine exact symptoms, the problem isn’t really noticeable on acceleration or amplified on deceleration...

    Pinion Angle/Tailshaft Bushing

Yep. Pretty convinced it is one of the mounts being hard or poor quality, something vibrating on something else. Worse case, maybe my driveline angles still aren’t quite perfect

    Pinion Angle/Tailshaft Bushing

Just wanted to update. Same existing problem still exists. Driveline angles are even closer now. Got brave the past few times and brought the revs up on the highway in 4th/OD to 2600-2700, which is about 72-73 mph. Oddly, the grumbling minor vibration seems to smooth out some at that speed and...

Torq Thrust D 15x8.5 rear wheels

Looking to put a set of 15x8.5 Torq Thrust D wheels on the rear of my Duster, with 3.750" backspacing. The tire is a 255/60/15. Should I be okay and not in danger of not fitting or rubbing, or should I move down to 15x8?

I am always interested in older muscle Mopar 1:18 scale diecasts built by Ertl and American Muscle. If anybody has some that they are trying to rid of or a collection of them, feel free to post here or PM me!

    Pinion Angle/Tailshaft Bushing

That all sounds like good fun to me. I've had some good street fun with nice mild 318s. Mines a little rough revving as mentioned, but I think a lot of that is just poor quality replacement motor mounts. Drove it out to Van Nuys Blvd cruise night tonight and still out right now. Came to...

    Pinion Angle/Tailshaft Bushing

The 3.91s were installed to mainly bandage the gap from 1st to 2nd as you had mentioned. And to give this mill with slightly less low end torque a bit of help.

    Pinion Angle/Tailshaft Bushing

Good advice. I may be looking to switch to a 3.09/D transmission at some point down the line since I would assume the only thing that might need to change is driveshaft length a tad and the pilot bearing size. For now, I will most likely just refresh what I have down the road a few months...

    Pinion Angle/Tailshaft Bushing

For what it is, it runs pretty well. Original block and heads. 1.88/1.60 valves. 60k since I rebuilt it, so its a little rough and one of the Comp lifters is noisey, but it'll last another summer or so.

    Pinion Angle/Tailshaft Bushing

All of that makes sense. And yes, what you were saying about running in 3rd gear is what I mean. You are right. Lol. I do think its trans related being how I feel it through the accelerator, steering wheel. And clutch as well. I'm just feeling more with the 3.91s. The trans was a used unrebuilt...

    Pinion Angle/Tailshaft Bushing

Your thinking is in line with mine. Cruising at 65 mph with 3.21s was 2000 rpm and that is usually where I hang out on the highway. Now, 2000 rpm is 55 mph with the 3.91s. So, I need a bit more engine speed and driveshaft speed with the 3.91s to get to the same 65 mph, which might be why I am...

    Pinion Angle/Tailshaft Bushing

Yes, everything was lined up before installing about a year ago. Bellhousing is a stock piece. This issue is popped up about a month or so ago shortly after a gear change, which has led me to suspect that the increased driveshaft speed is making a worn tail bushing or slight pinion angle...

    Pinion Angle/Tailshaft Bushing

No, this engine makes about 280-290 horse at best and it rarely sees 5000 rpm. Usually shifted no higher than 3500 rpm.
  26. MOPARJ

    Pinion Angle/Tailshaft Bushing

It may very well do it in 3rd, but revs are around 3100 rpm at the same mph, so it is very tough to notice if so due to the added engine noise. Would need to get it up at least to that point in revs to duplicate the same driveshaft speed that is seen at 55-60 mph in 4th. I will experiment on the...

    Pinion Angle/Tailshaft Bushing

Nah, not violently shaking at all. More of a grumbling pulsation that rhythmic. Main concern was just snapping or dropping the driveshaft somehow, but I don’t see how that would happen. Likely would just keep doing what it is doing, either from the angle being off slightly or wobbling in the...

    Pinion Angle/Tailshaft Bushing

Working on my 4 speed Dart with minor humming, grumbling vibration in 4th above 2000 rpm/55 mph. Still there when in neutral gliding but reduced. Can feel roughness when pushing clutch in at that speed. It is noticed in the float zone of the throttle while cruising only and from the trans...
