Just a follow up . Replaced broken lever with a stronger billet one still 4.2
I used a method that I came across in Tom Hand's Torqueflite book , Quote "set band to 1/4 inch arm travel at servo while pan is off " un-quote . I used compressed air to activate the servo because VB wasn't on ...
I've always used iron seal rings in my trans builds , because the teflon ones didn't look right to me .
But since the trans was in pieces , I did an experiment . With the front clutch mounted on the pump i did an air test of the clutch pack , first with the iron rings , then the teflon .
Result...
My KD Band adjustment procedure is 72 in-lbs , back of 2 1/4 .
The broken lever is an A&A part , 4.2 ratio . Think i'll replace it with a billet one from TSR.
We were talking about the Saginaw Type II pumps that came on a lot of GM products.
From what I have found in this forum , The pressure can not be reduced internally on the G 3 Hemi pump.
This was a re-lined band , can see the wear marks from anchor and adjusting bolt when purchased. Not sure it's helpful to name the company but i got all parts from a well known trans builder in the US.
Thanks for validating my concern . Yeah I wonder my self ; the QC cant be to good . I believe a lot of bands are relined , not a bad thing as long as the cores are good.

I should have read the advise more carefully
Pulled apart my recently rebuilt 904 for inspection and found the low reverse band was burning on the inner section only .
It is obvious this is due to a faulty band that is not wrapped evenly and is dragging on the drum when not applied .
It's not the first one I have purchased like this , I...
OK thanks to all who replied , I took it apart and yes the sprag had failed . The tabs on the cage bent over allowing the rollers to fall over . Interestingly there was no problem at first ( i was driving it carefully due to breaking in a new gear set ) but one I started to give it a little...
Broke a couple of teeth of the crown wheel at the strip @ full throttle in 1st gear , is this likley to do any damage to my freshly built 904 .
Reason I ask is , The trans has developed a bad 1st - 2nd shift I would describe it as severe overlap . Has a Cope reverse manual VB .
I did a...
I don't have the BBK , but this is how my F&B throttle body is set up .
It came with the rather flimsy throttle body mounted cable bracket ( I strenghtend it up alot ) . I made some brackets to secure the cable at two locations of the fuel rail bolts , and used a long lokar cable and cut it to...
