    383/727 Value

It appears that I couldn't build the 360 (Core) that I already have for the same cost to get it to the 383 horsepower level. Not to mention, I'd have to build a SB 727 to handle the 360. Looks like I'm going back to the 383/727 plan.

    383/727 Value

I bought a built 383 that I have heard/seen run. Engine had no smoke at cold startup, 80 lbs. (observed) of oil pressure and had a lot of cam lope at idle. The owner that built the engine doesn't have much documentation, but say's professionally ported HP iron heads, KB pistons (~10-1 Comp)...

    Mopar spotted

Looks just like a '75 Dodge Dart Sport I sold ~2008, except I didn't have a "Dodge" sticker on the quarter panels and had different tires/rims. The car went to the northeast and was that same powder blue with the half vinyl top, can't be a common paint code.

    Engine Paint Recommendations

Thanks, they have it. $25 a pop, but it sounds like quality paint (rated up to 700 degrees) and should only take one can for the engine.

    Engine Paint Recommendations

I'm trying to find the mid-70's Chrysler Blue engine paint in a rattle can. I can't seem to find VHT, which I used in the past, in the proper darker blue that's correct for my '75 Duster. Any recommendations for a high heat period correct engine paint for my Duster? Thanks!

74 Five MPH Front Bumper & Shocks

I did this on my Dart Sport ~20 years ago, so my memory is fuzzy on everything I removed. I do remember drilling a hole in the bumper shocks and securing them closed with some self-tapping screws. I don't remember seeing anything exposed that made it obvious that I modded the bumper.

74 Five MPH Front Bumper & Shocks

I did this on a '75 Dart Sport and it moved back enough (fully collapsing the bumper shocks) to look like it was factory. Sorry, I don't have any pics of the car and it's long gone. I currently have a '75 Duster and will probably do this in the future, but my filler pieces are like new, so it's...

What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

I pulled out the 383/727 combo out of an old race car I bought. I'll be transplanting the drivetrain, including a built 8 3/4 rearend into my '75 Duster.

    Newest Acquisition

No worries, I bought it for the drivetrain, not the car.

Thank you very much! I'll have to take a deeper look this evening after work.

The VIN tag is missing. Any locations on the body where there might be another VIN tag or stamping?

    Newest Acquisition

I picked up an old '70 Duster race car this weekend for $2500. The intention is to pull out the motor/trans and rearend and swap into my '75 Duster (pictured). History on the car, the owner built this car in early 2000 with a .030 383 (Keith Black pistons, ported factory heads, custom ground...

Buy a car without physically seeing it

I've only bought one car sight unseen, and it wasn't what it was advertised. The seller was happy to communicate until he got paid and then he fell off the earth. If you can get someone local to look at the car do it. If the other option is to fly in and look at the car, then do that. I drove...

Street Freaks, Customs, Rods, Street Machines...60's 70's 80's

    Adam-12

I've probably watched every episode over the last several years and love seeing "old" new muscle cars and cars of the day. If you look carefully, you'll see the same cars in a lot of the pre-staged shots. It's the background film when their driving around that has some of the coolest vehicles in...

    Automotive Catch 22 - wtf

    1. Figure up your desired RPM at the finish line first, the determine the gear ratio/biggest tire you can fit into your wheel well. All kinds of formulas on the internet to figure this out. 2. Figure out the cam for your desired operating range. Tell the cam company to recommend a converter...

    C/L Price Opinions

Appreciate al the feedback guys! What's underneath the paint and was the cam broke in correctly are my two biggest concerns. I'm definitely looking for a keeper, and not a car to flip. I'm probably going to look at another Mopar tomorrow that's 8 hours closer.

    C/L Price Opinions

I'm looking at this '76 Dart Sport and curious what others think about the condition of the car vs. fair market price. I'm not interested IF people like Dart Sports or not, just is the price reasonable for the year and condition of the car. I spoke with the owner about the car and the car is...

Ever just want to walk away from the old car thing?

The car hobby is like an addiction to me. I'm car less for now, which will soon change. I don't feel whole unless I've got a "weekend" car setting in the garage.

When to decide to part out...

Depends on how solid the sheet metal is and how rare. It probable was a 360 car if it had the hood scoop installed from the factory. If you have the title and it's solid, I'd sell it as a roller. I had a '75 Dart Sport and wished I hadn't sold it.

    Let's see your Duster!

Marvin, Nice Duster! My wife and I spent a few days in Vienna back in October. We were just tourist for a few days, but we found Vienna to be a beautiful city with very friendly people.

    Thoughts on this C/L find

I probably should have been more clear in my post. I'm not looking to buy this car, I was just rolling through C/L vehicle adds and saw something interesting and thought I'd share with the group. Some good points have been brought up, for sure. I hate the Gas Monkey "Patina" BS and agree it's...

    Thoughts on this C/L find

Not mine, but I was checking out C/L and saw this B-body. I had a '67 Belvedere II, so I have a soft spot for these. Seems like a lot of car for the money. Try to get past all the exclamation points in the ad: https://houston.craigslist.org/cto/5473844882.html

    well, it's an A-body I guess

All of me hates it. Why do people do :pottytra: like that?

    1972 Duster 340 garage find

I'm outside the country now and won't be back for several weeks, so the timing isn't right. Plus, the cost of the car, and shipping to Texas, puts me above my budget (some of us have those :-({|=). I agree with you though, distance isn't an issue, as long as everything else works.

    1972 Duster 340 garage find

I couldn't afford to keep more than one hobby car at a time, currently car less, which means I have a lot of "I wish I still had that car memories". There are a lot of cars on Craigslist that people obviously bought just to flip, they don't even bother taking a picture of the car taken off the...

    Previous owner handywork stories

You could have installed the rims, releasing them from liability, and driven it back home. Would give you some time to find the rims you wanted, at the price you wanted. They can't hold your car hostage, while they try and sell you some sbp rims.
