Problem solved. Turns out whomever worked on my dash before, did not make sure that the speedo lens/holder wasnt being fully seated, which prevented that speedo from sitting as far forward as it should, so thats why the reset stud wasnt coming through the hole.

These make getting oil on your swaybar much easier. No need to fish the drain plug out of the pan!

10-12 hours of machining to take a raw casting to retail. I am going to guess that those machines are in the $250 an hour range, so that's $2500 to $3000 worth of machine work. This will help explain why a new block cost so much. Tom

The problem with the DV Quote-bot, it is not in context, DV was stating that simply smoothing the surface of most as-cast heads results in very little to no gain...flow-wise...not that there is not a desired surface to increase output & decrease BSFC.... And screw the drag stuff, run a circle...

RRR, I will tell you why you do IDLE TIMING first..... You bolt on your carb, factory 12* of initial timing. You find the mixture screws are not adjusting the mixture; you are able to screw them all the way in...& engine still runs. You remove the carb & find too much transfer slot is exposed...

See what happens when you use the wrong fasteners in that area. It ain't purdy.

I understand that both hoses attached to it, but what I am asking is the adjustment sequence where the bolts need to be a little loose is that between the front and back section of the control valve or the control valve mounted to the steering box. Thanks again for your help and patience.

Laugh as you may, but this is an area that you need to pay attention to. Just as there always critical areas you have to pay attention to on anything mechanical. If it takes 44 post to get peoples attention and get the correct bolts installed then so be it. There is not a lot of clearance...
