The Brick, 1972 Dodge Dart Custom

Okay, here is the weekend update: Shaved door solenoids installed and tested (still have to hook up the controller and the microswitches). Wired through 4 relays with a manual safety release. Front and rear power window motors mounted, wired, and tested. Wired to dual relays per window...

The Brick, 1972 Dodge Dart Custom

Yeah, the extra 1/4 inch clearance was all I needed for the colibri style. I intend on posting some pics on what I ended up doing to give enough space for them. The dash cluster isn't too hard to get out on mine, but its the short box one. Posted via Topify on Android

Nope, I just "borrowed" your locations. Got all of that done, just took patience and a doublecheck of the holes I was drilling.

Thanks man - I keep plugging along. A couple of friends and I are in the process of shaving the door handles and installing aftermarket power windows......way too much wiring for my blood. :) Interior Door panel redo - I recut the actual panels in 1/4 inch MDF. I had to create some spacing...

Just the wire holes. I used your location as a guide, but going through that area under the hinges, the hole goes through 3 pieces of sheet metal. I guess I will just heat shrink wrap the heck out of the wires and then fish them through. Again - killer build - loving the 68

Dang man, that rear seat came out awesome. Good info on those arm rests. The 72 4 door uses the same arm rests and pads like the 68. Mr Moparts is a good source for them if you need them. Any tips for popping the holes for you power locks? Running wires to mine for shaved door handles and power...

[FOR SALE] 70-72 Swinger Front and Rear Bench Seats

Using UPS, looking at about $150 to ship the seats, based on very rough estimates. I dropped the seat set prices by $50 because of this.

[FOR SALE] 70-72 Swinger Front and Rear Bench Seats

Okay, picked these up from another member here to use in my 4 door, but ended up getting the factory seats redone instead. Black vinyl and and heavy velour. The installed materials does not look factory at all, but is in pretty good shape and is pretty sturdy. Seats have head rests that look...

    68' Dart "The Huntress"

Nice looking ride man. Hey, quick question - are the rear armrest and bases the same size as the front ones? I took mine off a while back, seem to have misplaced them, and will be hunting down a set to put back in my 72 4 door.

The Brick, 1972 Dodge Dart Custom

See, now you guys got me worried about it - The brake setup is off an Aspen, both front and rear, and the prop valve was not available when i got the front and rear setup. I have the prop valve on the front brakes......hrm. I had the brake system checked for balance at a shop and they said it...

The Brick, 1972 Dodge Dart Custom

Okay, I did the dash in 2012, in the summer. I grabbed whatever color spraypaint was closest to the interior color, 1972 Y4 Light Gold, (it was not even close). Seeing as I was working on the low dollar, I went head and did it up, repainting the dash with the tan color I got, and then redoing...

72 scamp needs a new dash

Classic industries has them - both the caps and the actual pads from what it looks like. Never ordered one from them, but if they are the same quality as the repop floor mats I just got, I would go with them in a heartbeat. Kind of spendy, but these are Mopar Authenitc restore products...

    seat belts

I put a set of the wesco ones in the front of my 72 4 door. I ordered the ones with the longer shoulder guides, as using just the coupe ones would have had the shoulder belt riding my ear. These are part number #SBS-lng-sash, from Wesco Performance. The retractor is pretty sturdy, but is...

The Brick, 1972 Dodge Dart Custom

Welp, finished finding where my brake light issue is - power getting to the column, but nothing coming out....so ordered a new MOPAR repro column turn signal assembly, and figured since I was going to have to tear that down, I would do what I wanted to do with the dash cluster in the first place...

Trust me, I did it to mine, and it wasn't a terrible thing to do. Rebuilding the front was a bit time consuming, but I think a swap to disk in the front is well worth it.

She's a bit rough on the outside. Just your basic 4 door in faded primer black. Hoping to polish off the body work this spring and have her painted. Have to finalize the interior and get the door handles shaved first......:) Oh, and Christmas after Christmas......my spiffy new floor mats...

The Brick, 1972 Dodge Dart Custom

Took the Brick out for a spin tonight. Had to go put gas in it anyways.....let me tell you, adding that rear swaybar made a HUGE difference. No body roll at all, and it rides really smooth. Now to run down that passenger rear brake/turn signal light issue....didn't get the time to check the...

Yeah, steelies and dog dishes are awesome. I run 14s BBP steelies with dishes on the Brick and they look awesome. When you go to find the 8.25 rear, see if you can round up a set of 14 inch steelies to go with it. Shouldn't be too spendy.

If it was a late model 72, then it may have had the big ball joints and upper control arms installed at the factory. If that is the case, then you have the hardest part to track down already. I got my parts locally from a guy named Jim, I will look his FABO username up. He can ship (greyhound)...

Find a disk brake donor FMJ body and some 73 and up upper control arms. Use lower ball joints from a 73 and you are in business. You may have to get an adjustable prop valve, but they are cheap. I dropped $25 on one from summit that is adjustable. I paid less then $400 for all my parts off the...

If the 8.75 doesn't pan out - a 8.25 from an Aspen would fit. You'd have to shorten the driveshaft and relocate the spring seats. I picked one up with 3:23 gears in it from a 76 Volare RoadRunner. Cost me about $50, and works like a dream after replacing all the seals and what not. I know...

Hey Jeep - just cruised through your build thread.....since your dash isn't hacked up, and if you don't want to do that to mount a DIN sized radio, you could go with one mounted in the glovebox, or build an under dash console like I did with mine. Advice though - if you plan to go floor...
