Comp Cams 828-16 Solid Roller Lifters

12 years worth of discussions here: Search results for query: 828-16 828-16 you will have to grind a lot. 8043-16 sounds like they are close but they clear with no grinding.

Comp Cams 828-16 Solid Roller Lifters

...this car, just want a strong street / reliable motor that sounds cool, pulls hard and turns the wheels at will. I have a new set of Comp 828-16 solid roller lifters and a Comp XR286R cam. The cam is a little too much for what l want, so l was thinking of getting another stick, such as a Comp...

    Oil through or not?

I was asking which rocker arm, not the lifter. Was thinking if you are not using a rocker arm that requires pushrod oiling for some reason, there would be no need to deviate from the LA shaft oiling. It works just fine.

Comp Cams 828-16 Solid Roller Lifters

Did you read the description on the Comp site? It has conflicting information. It says NO oil holes. If there's no oil hole, they cannot be pressure fed, can they? Pretty kornfrooshing.

I did not clearance anything. But they were also used in a 5.9 Magnum block.

Comp Cams 828-16 Solid Roller Lifters

If you to go the Summit racing site, the description of the 828-16 and the 8043-16 lifter sets are the same (see below). Both lifters have a 0.81" wheel. Some of the differences between the two lifter sets are as follows: - The 8043's have the pressure fed bearings. The 828's do not have...

Comp Cams 828-16 Solid Roller Lifters

They are their Endure-X and are supposed to be direct lubed axles. Never saw a set of the 828-16 rollers but they are for rocker shaft oiled, no pushrod oiling. The 8043-16 (which I’ve inspected) are direct oiled axles and pushrod oiling. @Toluene56 has experience with the 8043-16 and might know...

    Solid Roller Lifter Selection

...and am looking into what is available for lifters. I know the BAM lifters get good reviews. Does anyone have any experience with the Comp 828-16? The 828's are not as expensive as the other COMP option I found. I'm not too worried about grinding for clearance, but more concerned with...

I’ll pass. That’s the feedback I’m looking for. I have a partial set of comp 829 big block lifters that probably suffered the same fate. Needle bearings on the roller couldn’t keep up.

    Link bar to block clearance

Hello All, Just wondering what minimum clearance is required between link bar ,button and pin to block would be acceptable? I'm using Comp 828-16 lifters in my 318 roller block. After grinding I can get a .015" feeler gauge all around and under the pin to block. I'm concerned about growth when...

No I haven’t but we had a lifter bar break on a set of 828-16 lifters in my sons 360 that ran 6.54 trashing the whole engine. About 50 runs on those lifters. This weeks project. Bam lifters fit with zero grinding

who is running MRL (BAM) Lifters without lifter bore sleeves

I have a set of the Comp 828-16 lifters arriving tomorrow from Summit. Everything is coming out of my car and taken apart. Whatever grinding for clearancing the 828's will get done with the block apart. Probably going to have the lifter bores bushed.

Out With the Hydraulic Roller and In With A Solid Roller

It was a technical note for their lifters 843-16. I've since seen other lifters that don't have that note like the 828-16. Most of my experience is from BBC and SBC. My rockers are Comp Ultra Pro Magnums.

who is running MRL (BAM) Lifters without lifter bore sleeves

It is my understanding the ONLY lifters that you might have a chance running them un bushed and get away with it, is the Comp 828-16's. I'm talking LA small block and running a Solid Roller cam and lifters.

LA ( Roller Cam ) prep

Depends on the lifters being used. I had to do ~ 5-6 hours worth of grinding/test fitting in the lifter valley to make my Comp 828-16's fit (solid bodied solid roller lifter). They do make some that drop in...all they did was move the link bar to the other side....

...went wrong. When running a solid roller cam and lifters in an LA block it is imperative that you either "tube" the block, or "Bush" the lifter bores, or run CompCams 828-16 lifters, or else all the oil will fall right back down on the crank through the series of 1/2" holes in the main oil...
