    Exhaust/Starter/Wires Proximity

Wrap the wires (heat sleeve or wrap)...done. Even laying on the header won't be an issue

TTI down pipe up against torsion bar on passenger side

Park next to a tree. Wrap a ratchet strap around the header and the tree, and pull the header away from the torsion bar. No heat should be necessary.

Want to Hear Your Opinions on Cost-Effective Thermal Barriers for Floor and Transmission Tunnel

I read several years ago of a homebrew version of lizard skin. Unfortunately I don't remember where. Google search, maybe? Or maybe a header wrap for the exhaust under dr/pass feet?

TTI down pipe up against torsion bar on passenger side

Back in 80s I pulled up to a tall curb then used wood and bottle jack to push header in to clear torsion bar. It worked.

    Header to steering gearbox clearance

Well, bit of a dilemma for me. I’ve got a 360 magnum in my 71 scamp. Put some Doug’s headers on it recently. The primary tube is way too close to the return hose from my power steering gearbox. So much so that I’ve heat wrapped the return hose and safety wired the wrap in place. But, as you...

    Fuel vaporization fix

I was looking at that. The stock line goes right along the frame rail, next to the header. Now that I don't have the mechanical pump, I can route the lines however I want. I did wrap the bottom of the header with a heat wrap and put a sleeve over that part of the fuel line. Just to see if it...

It sure will. It will rust that header tube right on out.

    B&m style shifter....what cable length?

...a b&m is 4 feet. I use "fire sleeve" (silicone covered fiberglass fabric tube). Minimum size of sleeve is determined by the thickest part of the cable on one end that it must slide over) and some header wrap (on the cable with 12ga steel fence wire to hold it on) where it gets too close to...

    Borgeson or Firm Feel steering?

I run a cooler with my Borgeson box because the header tubes wrap all around the box. The Borgeson does deliver on the modern car steering feel. I got my kit from Bergman Auto Craft outstanding customer service.

Header to trans. line and shifter cable clearance

I put a big block with a 727 in my 69 Dart. I also installed a set of full length TTI headers. While neither of the trans. lines are touching the header tubes, there is only about 1/2" of gap at the closest spot. Do you think this will be an issue with heating the trans. fluid? I've done some...

Yeah.....Where? :) Imho, the entire MC is to close to the header pipe, wrapped or not. Id try a metal thermal shield of some kind, or see if they make opposite line mount Master Cylinder. https://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/threads/opinion-needed.576282/

Header to trans. line and shifter cable clearance

...due to the cable mounting bracket's location. I also can't move the lines any further away without replacing them completely and somehow rerouting them. I think I'll try some header wrap on both and hopefully that will take care of any potential problems. Maybe if I double up the wrap as well.

    Header to steering gearbox clearance

Power steering will be kept. I figured out a solution. Cut the barb off the original fitting, drilled and tapped the hole of the original fitting to 1/8npt. I’ll install a 1/8npt to 3/8 barb 45 degree fitting into that, which will move the return hose away from the header. And I’ll reinstall the...

Header to trans. line and shifter cable clearance

If increasing clearance isn't possible, then you can buy insulating material (e.g header wrap, spark plug wire insulation, etc.) for either header tube or the cooler lines/cable. The volume of fluid traveling through the cooler lines won't significantly heat up through brief exposure to a hot...

Help me re-route trans cooler lines

...buy light gauge nut plates. If using fire sleeve (silicon coated fiberglass weave), make sure it is sized at least as big as the braid od or slightly larger. Probably about $20 for three feet in a size big enough depending on the source. Could also use header wrap around the lines and safety...

Keep in mind any ceramic coating applied by the manufacturer or an independent shop has a warranty. That warranty is AUTOMATICALLY VOIDED by applying header wrap.

I throw small parts like screws, nuts, and washers in a glass jar with Evaporust for a week. Move to a yogurt tub and shake in hot water w/ soap many times until they water comes out clear. The parts rub loose stuff off each other, like a rock tumbler. Then put in a jar of Phosphoric Acid...

    Headers, 72 Duster 360 w-power steering

TTI and Doug's ae your best choices. If you don't mind saving money, banging with a hammer to fit and wrapping the tubes with header wrap so nobody can see the dents, then any other header will work fine.

    Wrapped headers....or Unwrapped

I did wrap some factory headers a few years ago in a ford ranger. It helped with the engine temps, but the cast exhaust manifold cracked after a while. I have read that wrap also voids header warranties. Mine never came apart or aything like that but it was a good brand, I believe it was DEI I...
