Is there a junkyard gem slant six combo?

i don't know the magic recipe of which head is the best, which bottom end has the most compression and/or best pistons and rods, but that seems to be the direction you're heading which is excellent. i will however strongly encourage you to run something other than the 1920's, anything other...

Anyone Run a Crane Z-268-2 Cam in their 318?

Hi TMM, I've run plasma moly rings on a number of builds. They seat quickly and work great.

I saw my first Tesla truck today.

I would think a 10 year old could draw something that looked better than this. Left handed and with their eyes closed.:lol::lol:

    8 3/4 rear seals

Yep, I just look at it on my laptop. The seal is on the outboard side of the retainer on the small image. It shouldn't be next to the adjuster right?

Honestly they look like old Chevrolet chevette seats.

Anyone Run a Crane Z-268-2 Cam in their 318?

That’ll have a mostly smooth idle and make OK decent power. I ran a very similar Crane cam in a stock long block ‘79 - 318, 904,w/3.21 gears, hooker headers into a Jegs dual exhaust, LD4B and a 600 Holley. With regular stock sized tires it could get into the high 14’s easy enough. Traction was...

Thanks for the update. I’d put the fluid back in and drive it til it shows some sign of an issue.

This is gonna be a great running little 360, Joe. It's gonna purr with those tall gears on the highway. Did you ever think of going A-500/42RH?

318 with 3.97 cylinder bore after clean up

If your pistons were an old set of TRW forged pistons you could probably get by with it since those needed about .006" clearance, but I honestly think you're wasting your time trying to put stock cast pistons in a hole that's .007" over and 0055" to large for proper clearance. If you try it...

Is there a junkyard gem slant six combo?

I'm looking to build a slant six for one of my future projects. In my current inventory, I have 225s from the following years... 1967 1972 1975 1976 1979 Super Six 1980 Jasper reman 1983 So, my question is basically, is there any year that is better than others as far as block, crank, pistons...

Still trying to figure out what AAWJ means on engine block.

May be related but I read somewhere that cranks 360 cranks with CFD cast into them were stronger than the ones with AAWJ and that CFD represented a GM foundry!

Still trying to figure out what AAWJ means on engine block.

I was always told it had something to do with the specific iron makeup, as far as nickel content, etc. But I have no way to verify that. Might be something to it, or it might just be a legend I've heard for nearly 40 years.
