If the filter has an extension it isn't a stock pan. Stock pans use the filter screwed directly to the valve body. Dimensions on the stock pan depth I don't have. Does that answer your question.

The stock pan is shallow. I got the kit with the filter extension but it's not really needed for a mild street application. . The stock filter location screwed onto the valve body is submerged in the same amount of fluid as with a stock pan. In other words, the "full level" is the same whether...

Sorry, thought the body was done in 2017 and engine transplant and connectors recently. Still given the symptoms and what all is confirmed to be working, I think that bind on the strike is most likely. After 7 years, maybe a tight tolerance has just closed up with time.
