Is it ok to copy a W5 head and make it better or are we just mad at Speedmaster

If you are doing a casting that is a complete copy of the W5, down to the logo, sure, you're probably as bad as Speedmaster. But you wouldn't do an exact copy, you'd make changes to the design. I thought Brett Miller was working on something? All the Edelbrock head copies started with someone...

Not sure this intake will feed 600 hp

It probably won't make much over 500 hp Are these the heads you are using? https://enginequest.com/product/chrysler-dodge-magnum-318-360-1992-2004-cylinder-heads-assembled-pair/

    Preferred Coolant Temps

You can try discs with different a size hole through the centre to tune the water flow and regulate the temperature.

    Preferred Coolant Temps

Why do you want it to be hotter? Tune it to the temperature it regularly runs at. You'll make more power with colder water temps. How hot is your oil? That you don't want to be cold.

    This is crazy. Elite Motorsports

It's a 9.5" case I believe, they're billet 7000 series aluminium. Case alone is $3-4K from memory. Let alone all the parts in them. There is next to no drag in them when you turn them.

    Glidden Arrow

I would respectfully say that these comments are based on heresay and not backed up by facts. There are a handfull of P5 headed engines in Comp and Super Stock making 3hp per cube or slightly over. A W8 is as good as any GM type wedge head, they might get them to nudge 2.8-2.9 hp/ci, but most...

    Glidden Arrow

I think 660 or so is more reasonable An all out W8 engine that small wouldn't make that kind of power, a wedge engine making over 3hp per cube just hasn't happened.

    Edelbrock Victor small block head……

Yeah sorry, I missed that. It being such an old thread threw me

    Edelbrock Victor small block head……

A friend has built a few when the heads were available, mostly street engines, using the CNC ported head from Edelbrock.

70 dart 470 ci drag car build.

I welded up a M1 intake like that. It was a great learning experience, but I'd never do it again.

Brodix B1 video by Eric Weingartner

From memory they're about 360-370 cfm out of the box for the original style head. They're a 30 or more year old design, and not particularly efficient by todays standards.

Brodix B1 video by Eric Weingartner

Tom Slawko did a program for the PSO version of B1 heads, never saw an engine that ran those heads though. I can't remember if Best Machine did an engine with them or not. It was a while ago now. I believe MBE have done something with them as well.

Holy cow..200 mph small block Mopar N/A

I honestly thought that someone revived an old thread when I first started reading this post (the posted article is 5 years old now) A few points after reading through all the responses The P5 head has been around since the 90's were designed by Mopar to replace the W8 head in Pro Stock Truck...

Where do these NPK street outlaw guys get all their money

James "Doc" Love has a Diesel repair shop. Daddy Dave owns Comstock Auto. Kye Kelley worked in Oil processing I believe. Many of the regulars have contracts with Discovery. The more popular guys would sell a lot of Tshirts as well I imagine

    727 SFI Case Update

A friend asked me about making him a billet 727 case, I've been putting him off for about 6 months now, I will let him know that A&A are talking about doing one. The question of more converterchoice, my understanding is the GM converter cores are taller than those used in our Chrysler...

    Old Race 340 Teardown

I bought a 360 of similar vintage that was built by someone who ended up being quite big in Slant 6 racing apparently. it was obvious that they spent too much time reading about rod ratio, as it had 6.625" long BME aluminium rods in it. BME rods from the early 80's aren't as durable as what is...

    P7 mopar nascar block

The valve train can be a little tricky, a lot of the teams did different things with it and a lot of the rocker arms are custom. I am in the process of trying to match rockers to stands etc myself. Most people will only buy them as complete running engines, a few brave people will build them...

    Early A Body Fenderwell headers

Thanks for the replies, I am thinking I may put one or two of the pipes through the fenders, rather than the whole four. Anyone done this?

    R5 p7

Scott Eatmon is very helpful, they will take a 4.25" is most cases. The early Ganassi engine ran this bore size, before Nascar mandated the maximum 4.185" bore size.

Parts supplier for T&D rockers on 360-1 indys

I have steered a couple of guys toward Brian and they have been very pleased with the parts, heads etc and Brian's service. I would give him my $$$.

    NASCAR mopar heads

Buy a complete engine off someone like Scott Eatmon, or from one of the teams. I am sure Penske will be having a big clean out.

    Early A Body Fenderwell headers

Does anyone have pics of an early A body with fenderwell headers? I am building a small block and will most likely be building a set of fenderwells for it. Thanks in Advance

Post 11 second small block combos

It was so long ago, I can't remember. The 60ft times weren't great, around the 1.6-1.7 mark. We mini tubbed the car after this meeting and then my friend decided he wanted out and I couldn't afford to buy him out. In hindsight, we could have just run Caltracs, some good shocks and spent some...

    Top End Needed

I will be very surprised if you see much of an improvement. Many people forget that a dual plane splits the carb in half, so on a single plane you have the 750 feeding each cylinder, same carb on a dual plane you've got a 375 cfm carb in effect. We've found in Dyno testing that a basic 360 that...

Post 11 second small block combos

A few years ago I helped out a friend with building his car, he raced it twice and sold it. Ran a best of 11.37@118mph, no tuning, we just turned up and raced it. It didn't have the collector extensions we dynoed it with when we went to the track, carb wasn't sealed to the hood either...

John, do you have the standard rear leaf front segment, or the longer 24" version?

    New front end

Looks good! How old is your Weber Belt drive? I haven't seen one with a plate like that in a while! The first one I bought (second hand) had the same plate, I was just curious as to how old it might have been.

Choke Tower Carb without Air Cleaner Myth

Competition Eliminator requires a 750 carb complete with it's choke horn in most of the Econo classes. If there was more HP in running an air cleaner, then they would all be doing it. Some might run an air cleaner in their scoop entry, but most don't My 2 Cents

    Intake help

A 2" open spacer will liven the Dual plane up, unfortunately I cannot for the life of me remember what gains I saw on the last 360 I played with on the dyno. A 2" super sucker made no extra power, but picked up 10ft/lbs across the range and cleaned up the idle and the engine's temperament across...
