    Manual Steering issue..

Well I got my Demon on the road today and found that the manual steering seems to be a bit lookse. I was able to turn my steering wheel almost a 1/4 to 1/8th turn in either direction before the car responds. It appears to get worse at higher speeds. Is there a way to tighten the manual...

    Spark Plug Gap

Thanks! I think they are currently gapped at .045 (this was just a guess when I put them in). I will re-gap them.

    Spark Plug Gap

I have a silly question, what gap should I set my plugs at on a 318 with a 4bbl Holley carb and original points distributor? I can seem to find this information anywhere..

    Aftermarket Stereos

My plan is to wire a 3 channel amp in the trunk that will power 2 6x9s and 1 sub. I will put the sub in a free standing box in the trunk. The 6x9s I am thinking I will mount to the underside of the rear sill (depending on the mounting pattern I may fab an adapter). I am then going to run a...

Installed SS Springs, now the car sits uneven

I havn't measured the pinion angle, but just from looking at it it seems fine. I have done a bit of work with Jeep drivelines and suspension fab, I assume a-bodys are similar. You would want the pinion to be positive about 5 degrees so when it is under load the pinion will rotate downwards and...

    Summit or Jegs Exhaust kits

I don't really have a basis for comparrison. I have heard it compared to flowmasters but I am not sure. It is not as loud as glass-packs, but still has a nice powertone when you rev it. I am very happy with the sound.

    Summit or Jegs Exhaust kits

I installed the Summit full 2 1/2" exhaust kit on my Demon, behind a set of Summit headers. As mentioned above the quality of the kit seemed good, bends were good and the kit fit together well. The Drivers side went in without any problems. I would highly recommend trimming the exhaust pipe by...

Installed SS Springs, now the car sits uneven

Counted the leafs and it appears that both sides have 4 leafs. The passenger side has the smaller bottom leafs offset farther forward I assume this is to counter axle wrap? I guess I will just wait and see how the leafs settle after putting some more miles on them.

I need help w/ small pattern wheels

I had the same dilemma... Eventually I am going to upgrade my brakes and go with a 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern, until then I didn't want to spent too much money on new wheels, so I elected the have the stock steel wheels powdercoated. I dropped them off today so we will se what they look like in a week.

    headers or not to headers

I installed the Summit Racing headers ($99) on my Demon. They were a tite fit but only took a few minutes to put in because the engine was out when I did it. I simply put them in place then lowered the engine into place. I was not able to get the stock starter to fit so I ended up buying a mini...

Installed SS Springs, now the car sits uneven

I will check the spring count when I get home. I did verify the springs were on the correct sides 003 - drivers (left), 002 - passengers (right). I guess it would make sense to have one preloaded more than the other to account for engine torque.. the right side (high side) is the drive wheel.. I...

Installed SS Springs, now the car sits uneven

To clarify...the car is sitting higher on the passenger side. And to clarify my shackles are pointing forward, meaning the bottom of the shackle (spring eyelet side) is forward of the top of the shackle (frame mount)... Thanks...

Installed SS Springs, now the car sits uneven

I installed the 002 and 003 SS leaf springs form summit and now my rearend does not sit evenly. If you look at the car from the rear it appears that the passenger side is about 1" higher than the drivers side. I verified that the springs were on the correct side (003 is the drivers side spring...

    Dual scoop stud size?

Does anyone know the size of the OEM dual scoop studs? I recently purchased an original set of scoops on Ebay but they did not come with studs. These hood scoops are Chrysler part number 2949195 and 2949194. It looks like they each have 8 mounting holes.

    SS Spring Problem...

Thanks guys! I was hoping I could just drill them out, much easier than buying new bushings. I am going to pick up a couple grade 8 bolts on my way home and will be widening the hole on my drillpress. I was considering flipping my hangers, but first I want to see just how high it puts the...

    SS Spring Problem...

I got my new SS Springs from Summit and began the installation process. I found that the new front SS spring bushings were too large for the stock front spring hanger bolt (car is a 71 Demon). Has anyone else encountered this problem? Would it be recommended to replace the bushings or drill...

    Dog dish rims?

Has anyone had a set of the original steel wheels (the ones that come with the dog dish hubcaps) widened and/or powdercoated? I am debating purchasing a set of ralley wheels or perhaps having my stock wheels powdercoated either black or silver and having the rear wheel widened to accept a wider...

    Silly Timing question

I pulled the vacume advance and capped it on the carb, do I need to cap it on the distributor as well? I have the timing light hooked up to #1 cylinder, (front drivers side). I also made sure the wire was far enough away from cylinder #3 that I wasn't getting any signal from that wire. When I...

    Silly Timing question

After manually timing the engine by simply twisiting the distributor, I decided to hook up a timing light and see exactly where the timeing was at. I hooked up the gun to the #1 cylinder. It appears as if the timing is WAY off when I hook the light up. I don't even see the timing mark on the...

    Rear Shackle Q

I have done suspension work on other vehicles (mostly jeeps) in the past. In these instances you will need something to press the bushings into the shackles. I used a large c-clamp with large washers welded to the clamp pads. This allowed me to evenly press the bushings into place. I have also...

    Leaking aluminum Mopar valve covers!!!

I have the same valve covers, using Fel-pro re-useable rubber gaskets.. after installing my new engine I noticed a major leak on the rear of the passenger side cover. After reading the thread on PCV use, I drilled out my cover and added a PCV connection on the passenger side, and a twist on...

    Kickdown adjustment?

Well I took the demon on its maiden voyage last night, aside from a few minor issues I am getting close to getting it driveable. One thing I noticed was the transmission seemed to be shifting at wierd times. I installed a new manifold, and holley 4 bbl carb. I am using the stock kickdown linkage...

Does small bolt pattern = 5x100? [PICS]

Has anyone tried using a 5x100 rim on a small bolt pattern car? I was playing around in the garage this weekend and tried fitting a 5x100 wheel I had from my wife's old PT Cruiser on my small bolt pattern Demon. The rim fit fine and I was able to bolt it on. Obviousely the offset was off because...

    American Racing

Check Summit Racing ( www.summitracing.com ) for a general idea of prices. You probably won't find to many Demons or early Dusters with those wheels because American Racing doesn't make them in a small bolt pattern ( 5x4" ). There is someone on this board who has large torque thrusts on a black...

looks like chrysler is at it again!

I personally like the new charger SRT8. A friend of mine ordered one from the factory and I have had a chance to drive it. It is very fast. The electronic traction control, navigation system and the suspension are awesome. The suspension was what really supprised me. I think they really did a...

Starting engine for the first time...oil pressure

Well I went to Walmart to buy some more oil and found a little $6 mechanical oil pressure guage (designed to fit under your dash). I plugged that in and was able to get 50-75psi with my cordless drill depending on speed. Not sure what I did but everything seems to be working now... Just have to...

    Compression Test Results

What are the factory compression specs for a 318 LA Engine? I did a compression test on my old engine before I pulled it out (cracked blocK) and got about 135 on all cylinders except the cracked ones. I purchased a remanufactured block and they perform a compression test before packaging...

Starting engine for the first time...oil pressure

I started this whole ordeal by turning the engine over with the starter to try and get oil up to the valves. When I was using the priming tool I was not turning the engine over at the same time. Just to verify the pump priming rod should be turning CLOCKWISE?

Starting engine for the first time...oil pressure

I am ready to start my new 318 for the first time but I am having a few issues with oil pressure. I had everything ready to go and used the starter to turn the engine over, trying to build up oil pressure before starting it. After turning it over for about 1 minute I did not seem to be getting...
