    1964 Plymouth Barracuda

Thanks for your input. The car is complete except for the last few things on the list. The front bumper is twisted but can be straightened. Get the word out for me. I need to sell this car. Thanks Mark

    1964 Plymouth Barracuda

It's time for me to give up my project car. It is a 1964 Plymouth Valiant Barracuda. I am the second owner and it has been in the family since new. I know the full history of the car and have a lot of documents to show. I have the original bill of sale and all plates that have been on the car...

    What's It Worth???

Thanks for all your responses. The car is really solid. One rust spot on right rear fender the size of a dime. Frame and floors are 100%. I'm going to try listing it one more time for $4000. If I don't get any interest, I will start parting it out. Hate to do it but I need to get rid of it...

    What's It Worth???

It's been a while since I've been on the forums. Haven't had much time in the last few years. So here is what I got.... It's time for me to give up my project car. I need a little help in estimating it's value. It is a 1964 Plymouth Valiant Barracuda. I am the second owner and it has been in...

    Manual Steering Box Seals?

Just curious, how have you guys replaced the pitman and worm gear seals on the manual stearing box? Do you use the special tools? I'm not wanting to tear the whole gear box apart right now. Mark

    Dash Pad Removal

The pad should have some studs coming off of the back side of the pad. Reach up under your dash and feel for the studs along the inside. Might be a 5/16 or 3/8 nut holding it on. Maybe 4 to 5 of them. At least that's how it is on my '64 Barracuda. Just put it on this last weekend. Mark

    Steering box - Which lubricant?

Is it compatible? Would I need to open the box up and clean all the old grease out?

    Steering box - Which lubricant?

I'm placeing a manual box in my car now and opened it to check it out. Is that what is in the box now? The FSM says to use SAE 80 and to fill it to the top of the worm gear. How much of the grease do you use? When I look in the box now, I can see the worm gear without any grease around it...

Where can I find these seals?

Thanks for the replies, but I think I'm not clear on what seals I'm looking for. I attached a photo of the two. I guess the pitman seal would be more of a dust seal. It's cone shaped rubber that goes over the stud or ball joint. The other seal is the one that caps off the lower end of the...

Where can I find these seals?

Looking for a new pitman arm grease boot or seal. Also looking for the seal that goes on the bottom of the steering column. Not sure what it's called. Manual calls it two things: Column lower seal and jacket seal. Pretty much the seal at the bottom of the tube that the steering shaft comes out...

Thanks Guys. That's what I was looking for. Can you give me your opinions on quality oil filters? Mark

    High Oil Pressure

I'm using 10w-40 and it's about 55°-60°. So don't worry about it right now? Thanks Mark

    High Oil Pressure

Do I need to worry about seals? It's not in the car yet. Should I continue with it and see what it is once the engine is broken in? Would hate to pull it again. It's a '76 block .030 over with: KB pistons 509 Comp Cam MP M1 Dual Plane Intake Edelbrock RPM heads 340 HP Exhaust 770...

    High Oil Pressure

I have a fresh 360 that I'm getting ready to install. I was priming the engine and decided to check and see what the oil pressure was doing. I put a cordless drill on the priming drive shaft and put a gauge on the oil pressure port. The gauge went straight to 85 psi. Is this normal for a newly...

Booster hitting valve covers. What to do?

I wasn't able to find that article but I'm not sure there would be a smaller dia. booster than mine. It's pretty small compared to others that I've looked at. I've decided to go with manual brakes for now and see if I like that. Thanks Mark

What year manual steering will fit?

Yes, I'm still going manual brakes. Just trying to get all the pieces of the puzzle together now. I have definitely learned a lot in putting this 360 into my '64 Barracuda. Mark

    Manual push rod?

I'm going manual brakes in my '64 Barracuda. I have disk/drum setup from a 72 Dart and stock booster right now. Do I go with a stock '72 Dart manual mc? Will all a-body manual pushrods work? Does anybody have one to spare? Or an aftermarket that will work? Thanks Mark

What year manual steering will fit?

Thanks, photos can be deceiving. There is a lot of hail damage that is getting taken care of as we speak. Wouldn't usually do it but the car has been in the family since new and there is no rust. Yes, I'm going from power to manual. Is this a good price? from a '66 Barracuda Steering box...

What year manual steering will fit?

Will a '66 Barracuda manual steering fit my '64 Barracuda? I keep seeing comments like "'66 and up". Why don't they say older cars? Both are from V8's Thanks Mark

Booster hitting valve covers. What to do?

Yea, I'd seen those too. Somebody had told me that there was a stock setup that the booster was offset. I guess I could also go manual. I've already converted to disk/drum. Not sure what this would feel like? My booster is the original '64.

Booster hitting valve covers. What to do?

I have a 360 in my '64 Barracuda. I've put the MP cast valve covers on and the brake booster hits them. I know I can put the stamped covers on but would like to run with the cast. How can I fix this? I've heard that there is an offset booster. Is there one and what years am I to look for...

http://www.trimparts.com/pages/carpetsearch2.asp http://www.dantesparts.com/carpet.html (trimparts kits) I have these guys marked down to get the carpet for my '64 Barracuda. I remember reading a lot of good on them but can't find where that info was. I will keep looking.

    What should I do?

Sorry, I was just rambling through my own issues. I'm trying hard not to cut my car up. If switching to manual works great with no other issues then I would say to patch yours back up and go with the 340's. If I run into any more issues, then already having the fender wells cut maybe a good...

    What should I do?

I remember reading that also. I don't think it's needed if manual steering is used. Right now, the manifold flange hits the end of my power steering box. If the ms box is a couple of inches shorter, the next thing that would be in the way is the coupler. If I go with a Flaming River adapter...

    What should I do?

I'm working on a 360 into a '64 Barracuda. As of yet, I have not found a way to make the 340 manifolds fit around the power steering box. Looks like I will need to go manual steering. Mark

    Radiator selection help.

I have a 1964 Barracuda that I'm putting a 360 into. The stock radiator is the 19" core. Right now with the 360 in place and using the alum. water pump housing, I have 2.25" from fan to radiator mount. I'm am using the stock fan and spacer (which I think is 2"). I need help on finding a...
