    Starter not disengaging?

Installing the diode in the circuit corrected the problem. This isn't an exact match with the factory wiring schematic. Incorporating the Mopar orange box ignition and the ballast resistor created the back current issue. The red wire from the coil to the resistor meets with the wire coming...

    Starter not disengaging?

The Painless wiring was very straight forward. It's not the same as factory by design. It's incorporating the Mopar ignition that was a trick.

    Starter not disengaging?

I pulled the wire long before this thread, and no power was getting anywhere. No response when the ignition was turned on.

    Starter not disengaging?

After further diagnostics there "IS" power remaining when the key springs back into the run position. I talked to Painless Wiring and they recommend a diode be installed in the circuit. We agreed the diode needs to be inline on the wire that runs between the Ignition post on the starter relay...

    Starter not disengaging?

I agree. I've removed and replace multiple starters dozens of times now. Is there any way to confirm this? As soon as power is disconnected i've watched the gear disengage immediately.

    Starter not disengaging?

How is this adjusted? I've cleaned the bellhousing and don't believe anything should be shimmed? I've tried two MSD Starters and one Speedmaster chinese starter. All have the same issue.

    Starter not disengaging?

Long story sorry. Need the details. I have a 1972 Duster with a 360 LA block and a 727. I completely rewired the car using a painless universal Mopar wiring kit. As I got to a point I could ops check the engine starting system I bumped the ignition and it fired. I finished the complete car...

Are the 71 Demon bows still available? Do you know if they would work on a 72 Duster? Thanks

    1972 Plymouth Duster

This started out as a 72 Gold Duster. My wife wanted a car to enjoy along with my 68 GTX and a friend had this. It was her idea to take the original 340 duster look of color w/ the black hood and reverse the scheme. The car is now satin black with the M3 Moulan Rouge hood and stripes. I...

    Blinker issue

That is the car that I'm finishing for my wife. She had the idea of reversing the original color scheme. So what would have been black is now M5 Moulan Rouge and the car is satin black.

    Blinker issue

It ended up being the new blinker camber. The metal prongs that should make contact with the steering column when the blinker is turned on were to long. They weren't making contact. I trimmed each one and the problem was fixed. Glad when its easy.

    8 3/4 Rear End Howling

Reused pinion bearing. From the sound of things it seems like the measurement may be slightly off? Doesn't sound like its something I shouldn't drive the car with? Seems like its just going to be a little annoying until I take it apart again to repair? Thanks for the help and suggestions.

    8 3/4 Rear End Howling

I recently swapped my 72 Duster rear end to a 8 3/4 with 3.55 gears. Everything within the rear end is new except the gears. The gears were in good shape so we reused. When accelerating and you reach 50-60 mph a howling noise can be heard. Only when accelerating and only in this mph range...

Installed New Door Handle's/Doors won't open

I will take a look at possibly adjusting the screw. The old button is pretty worn/pitted. If it comes down to it i'll swap and see if that fixes it. Thanks

Installed New Door Handle's/Doors won't open

I installed new exterior door handles and locks on my 1972 plymouth duster. I reused the old spring levers on original handles. All rods are original. After installation when I press the exterior door handle to open the door it doesn't pull the lever far enough to release the latch within the...

Trying to remove door locks, 72 Duster?

I've removed everything from the door (handles, panels). I'm trying to remove the key locks from the door. I see the rod going to the back of the lock looking to be held on with an e clip. This clip will not move so far. How do you remove this lock? I'm trying to prep the car for paint. Thanks

    Blinker issue

Ok. I have a 72 duster. My ignition switch didn't work, and my blinker camber did not lock in the up position. I took apart the steering column to fix both parts. I installed a new ignition switch which now works just fine. I also installed a new camber. Now that everything is put back...

Thank you for the reply, and yet again this forum has shown me this is where I need to go first when looking for anything. Fortunately for me I found out before the companies machine went down my 360 logo was the last thing it spit out. Unfortunately for my pocket book I paid twice what you...
