They are real close, and few people have made them work with slight modification to the starter and drilling a bolt whole in the bell housing to match the 2.4.

Found couple sources saying SRT4 neons weigh in it at 2870-2900, looks like the srt4 got a little porky.... older neons were not that heavy.

I heard about the adapter plate for the 2.4 to 904 but not sure if anyone is going to build one or not. I know the turbododge guys are trying to get a someone to make it....

3.55 is not that bad of a gear if your launching out of the hole on nitrous... but like dusterdon said make sure your fuel pump is up to the task. Also I would go with one range cooler plugs too and shorten the gap a tad. Might also wanna pull some timing... With all that you should a 100 shot...

Not to be a jerk, but why did Mopar use the 340 for racing if it has a short stroke and large bore? I was told torque moves the car but horsepower wins the races.
