    Spark plug help!

I guess the important infoni left out was the aluminum aftermarket heads. I had the problem with the steel heads and spark plugs hitting a casting "bump" but the aluminum heads have a smaller hole machined that won't let the bigger plug in all the way. I did some research on the trick flow heads...

    Spark plug help!

I need help with which plugs I need. My current plugs are 13/16 and they hit the heads before they are all the way in. It's a 77 motorhome 440 in my 72 scamp with a fresh rebuild. This is the only thing keeping me from firing this thing up. Thanks in advance!

    Which Edelbrock heads?

Indy has a blowout page with stage 6 heads. Any opinions on those good bad or indifferent?

    Which Edelbrock heads?

Hood clearance isn't an issue. I know the Victor heads would require offset rockers I'm assuming due to the larger intake valves. I forgot trick flow released a new set of heads. I'll go take a look at those too!

    Which Edelbrock heads?

I have a side job that's about to wrap up and go into my "hotrod fund" . Looking for a set of aluminum heads for my Scamp. I have been looking at Edelbrocks and can't seem to make up my mind between the performer or the Victor. For the most part my car is a street car, but I do like to take it...

    Disk brake conversion question

I have a 72 Scamp that I'm in the process of gathering parts to convert it to BBP disk. I have a set of 73+ rotors and calipers just trying to find spindles and control arms. I read on another post that all spindles 73 or newer are essentially the same, but what about a 73 van? I have one that...

    stall converter

I have a set of 29x13.5 slicks. My car is for the most part a street car that I have taken to the track once. There are some issues I have to get worked out both with me and the car. I have drag raced ATVs for years but my nerves were shot once I put my baby on the track!

    stall converter

My 2 things on my wish list are a 28-3200 stall converter and a set of 3.73 gears. I'm really not complaining about my car. First time to have it on the track and it ran a 11.16 in the 1000' at 92 mph and it spun 50' off the line.

    stall converter

The total timing is 36° initial I believe is 16°. My regular street tires are 26" (295/50). When I nail the throttle the tires never hook it just smokes them but I have never felt a flash in the converter

    stall converter

I have a 72 scamp with a 440/727. Did some converter swapping and was supposed to have a 2400 stall. Took my car to the track for the first time last weekend and on the line all the brakes would hold was approximately 1500 rpm. Running down the track when I shifted the rpm dropped to 15-1800...

    electric fuel pump interference

I just put a msd box on my 72 scamp and have major interference from my electric fuel pump. My fuel pump is set up on a relay and gets power direct from the battery. Even with it hooked direct to the battery I get the interference. With the fuel pump turned off the car starts and runs fine with...

    motor home 440 build questions

The heads are 452's. The plans are to port the heads and use them with some new pistons to help raise the compression. Put a new cam and run it that way until I can save up and buy a good set of aftermarket heads.

    motor home 440 build questions

This may have been covered before but I couldn't for the life of me find it. Saturday I bought a 77 440-2 out of a motor home with the trans for $300. I am new to big blocks but I have always heard the motor home heads are junk. I'm looking for suggestions or opinions on heads for a street...

So close to running, but then this happened!

I had a similar experience happen to me last weekend. The stud broke leaving about 1/2" sticking out. I found a nut that would slip over the stud and was fairly snug. I welded the nut to the stud and while it was still glowing hot I put a wrench on it and got it to break loose. After that it was...

    Distributor troubleshooting

I have been checking the voltage with the power wire connected to the correct terminal on the dist cap. I had the meter set and had the terminals connected to the dist not just the wire. I was checking the voltage as I was trying to start the engine with the key. I am going to take the pickup...

I have actually been checking the firing of this dist by a in line spark tester and by putting a test light on the - terminal on the coil.
