In a pickle here. I had some K1 rods and my machinist says the bearing tab slots are so far off he can't use or fix them. So I'm needing some new rods A.S.A.P. Would prefer Molnar, but would also consider K1.

Sorry, I think I missed something along the way. Weren't you going forged? I wouldn't go through all the work of a fresh engine just to go right back to cast pistons, even on a 5psi build. Or did they fall under the few parts you'll be swapping in either way?

Bill, I wonder if that's to the wheels or crank? If it's at the crank, the stock ones barely made less, which would imply a stock slant could run high 16/low 17?

Oh no, it's possible. But I wouldn't set your goals by pressure. Instead, go for power or timeslips. If you build it right/efficient you won't need even 20psi. The fastest slant in the world only runs on 15psi (i believe). The most powerful slant in the world makes north of 600 horse with 17psi...

A fellow by the name of Mike Jeffrey recommends running a 2 inch spacer on the offy if you can make it fit. Says the carb sits too low to the plenum floor and that the space improves it greatly. Just figured I'd pass it along...

Rusty, I believe it adapted small block transmissions instead of B/RB. That was a truck/van only item in the 60s, the slant specific 727 came in later trucks, taxis, police cars etc.

Poor road manners would come from no choke, unheated intake, and very large carb on a engine that (naturally aspirated) could use half of the carb most likely. Also, poor fuel distribution may have a part in it as well. Possibly doggy off boost by means of low compression, very high geared? Bill...

Personally jungles, I like your efi idea. If I were to build a boosted slant, efi turbo would be my first choice. I haven't heard much good about those dial-a-jets but I haven't tried one personally (thought about it though) Bill is a little more old school and likes carbs. My personal opinion...

Lol no I haven't bought it yet. Others have inquired about it as well, he has just yet to name an actual price on it. And I've yet to actually talk to the owner...
