    Door lock anchoring

73 Plymouth Duster Well my first effort today working on an interior/exterior trim issue. My driver side door lock has always jiggled from the end of the restoration. Yesterday the brass inside clip finally fell off and lock was totally loose. I took the leap and pulled the door panel. It...

Left turn signal better than right

My left turn signal always works better than the right. Even at stop idle my left signal keeps flashing. My right signal stops flashing at idle. Both work at highway speed for lane change and full turn action. The alternator is new (100Amp). I always drive with my headlights on. I get a negative...

    Gold Duster decal stain

Well everything looked really nice with the restoration until my son pointed out the stain below the gas cap. See attached picture. My shop tried what the could think of, but no luck. It clearly happened after the decal was applied. Are there an magical solvents that will work on your vinyl? Dennis

    Mixing decals and emblems

We are getting ready to mix and match a metal Duster emblem with the 71/72 Duster/Tornado decal on the restored tail panel on my 73 Gold Duster. I think the decal was OE for 71/72 and the emblem alone was OE for 73 and above. The metal emblem fits right over the Duster on the decal, in the...

What is the deal with 1972 and earlier model years?

I have seen in many places reference to 1972 and earlier model years defining some sort of classic cut-off. What is the objective reason for that? Does it only have to do with emission standards and safety standards kicking in? Or is it 'group think' that 1973 and after cars suck? I think it...

    [SOLD] a-body seat belts

I need a nice complete set of black rear seat belts. If the set is really nice I will take front and rear. Current set has rusted chrome. I have not checked the retractors, but given the nasty look of the originals replacement may be the best option. 1973 Duster. We are getting close to...

    73 Duster Guy in Raleigh

:) I just read a posting on 'what's my problem' and I noted to myself that I had never introduced myself on the Welcome Wagon. I guess I didn't know what to say at first. I am a scientist with a 'large global pharmaceutical company' nearing retirement and giving in to my long-standing...

14 to 15 inch spare combo

I had my original 14s swapped for 15 inch Vintage Rally with radials to accommodate a modern front disk brake swap. What would be the best wheel/tire combination for a spare that will still fit flush in the 73 Duster spare well? I would really like to keep the flat trunk. Dennis

1973 Gold Duster-Slant 6 -Retirement Gift to Self

Ok, Here we go. I traded in my original 1973 Gold Duster (Autumn Bronze / White Vinyl) in 1980 when I was commissioned as a naval officer. For a good 20 years I have been thinking about getting another one. In August 2014 I bought the one below on eBay. Those members who frequent eBay, may...

W84 Road Wheels Option Code 1973 Duster

I am trying to finish up a decode of my 1973 Duster broadcast sheet and I am being stumped on two items. The car is a 1973 A64 package Gold Duster, with standard drum brakes and power steering. Under the W codes, Road Wheels I have an 84. None of the decode lists I have tried have a W84...

[SOLD] 73 Duster Spare Tire Hold down bracket

Immediate need.... My shop is trying to 'fix' a badly rusted spare tire hold-down, gas tank strap bracket on a 73 Duster. I would prefer to replace if anybody has one laying around. I did have a suggestion from a member to try AMD. They do in fact make them, but would not sell me just the...

    Duster Canopy Vinyl Roof

I am having a 1973 A94 code Gold Duster restored and I DO WANT the canopy vinyl roof reinstalled. I ordered a white 3/4 canopy roof from a major interior vendor about 2 weeks ago. As with almost everybody who sells Mopar interior products they are a reseller for Legendary. I finally got...

Gold Duster vin codes A64 vs A94

What is the difference (besides the numbers) between the A64 and A94 vin codes for the Gold Duster? I have the window sticker for my original 1973 Gold Duster, which I bought when I got my first job after college, and its special package code was A94. I recently bought another 1973 to have...

    Duster Glove Box Radio

Will a stock cardboard glove box liner for a 73 Duster be strong enough to hold a new AM/FM/BT/CD + a Sirius tuner? Will I need to add some sort of 'floor' piece (wood or metal)? or Must I fabricate a stronger liner? Something like an aluminum knock off of the stock liner? Or better yet, is...
