    Hesitation/bogging street avenger

It’s the Advertised Duration 268/276, Lift .494/.513 cam. It’s on a 340 with aluminum heads and air gap manifold. I want to say it has 18* initial but last time I checked was well over a year ago. I’ll check that out and mess with the idle a bit while I’m there. Turns out the squirter to the...

    Hesitation/bogging street avenger

I checked for vacuum leaks and even sprayed some starting fluid around any possible bac and no dice. I’ve added a video.

    Hesitation/bogging street avenger

I have a 670 street avenger on my 340 with a lunati cam that’s giving me issues. I had some problems with it and turned out something was clogged in the discharge nozzle. That’s fixed and the car has a rough idle from the cam but otherwise perfect. It doesn’t die after revving it coming to a...

Holley street avenger issue (won't start)

Yeah I did some nosing around after reading your response and see the diaphragm under the front bowl you're talking about. I'm hoping it's just that and not the idle circuit because my engine is cranky as hell when it's cold. It has a big lumpy cam that doesn't like to idle well until it's a...

Holley street avenger issue (won't start)

So I'll admit I'm not good with carbs as I grew up with fuel injection. I have a 340 in my valiant and I last started it a month ago and it ran fine. When I went to start it today I did my usual 4 pumps and nothing. I stood over the carb and worked the linkage and saw nothing squirting so a...

Won't stay running after intake gasket replacement

Haha well I don't feel so bad it seems everyone has ha d a brain fart moment. I'm especially glad I didn't break the baseplate. The torque converter and throw out bearing stories must have really sucked...much bigger job than lifting off a carb.

Won't stay running after intake gasket replacement

This is kind of old but turns out I was an idiot. I finally got around to messing with the car and with carb cleaner I was able to find the vacuum leak at the carb to manifold gasket. When I lifted the carb off I saw that I somehow put a thin washer on one of the manifold studs between the...

Won't stay running after intake gasket replacement

Didn't touch a thing on the carb. Yeah I knew it ran perfect before and figured I screwed something up and didn't wanna try fiddling with the carb.

Won't stay running after intake gasket replacement

Yeah no progress since then...been too busy to really mess with it but I'm off for a while now and getting back at it. That pcv hose is connected as is everything else. If I can't narrow it down here in a bit I'm going to try the carb gasket first and if not I'll do it all over again...

Won't stay running after intake gasket replacement

Sorry I messed up. The intake is not new. I just replaced the gaskets with edelbrock gaskets that came with the car. I'm having a buddy come over in a bit to spray around while it idles for 2 seconds to see if we can find it. Does vacuum leak sound like a reasonable explanation or could it...

Won't stay running after intake gasket replacement

No the intake is new though I never would have thought of that. Car isn't smoking thankfully.

Won't stay running after intake gasket replacement

So I swapped out intake gaskets recently and since then it just won't stay running. Essentially I'll fire it up and it will idle way high at like 2500rpm for 2 seconds then die. This will happen over and over. If I rev the hell out of it pumping gas it will hover around 3 grand but will...

Any tips for removing stuck intake manifold? (Update...it worked)

Good call man! I'll shake the walls and piss off the neighbors if I fire it up right now but im hoping that that has to be it. It was a big port on the very base of the carb where it plugged in at.

Any tips for removing stuck intake manifold? (Update...it worked)

Oh hell yes that is the pcv hose and now that I think of it I don't know where they hell it was plugged in at. I put it there to get it out of my way. Hmm let me go look.

Any tips for removing stuck intake manifold? (Update...it worked)

So I got it all back together but car starts for like 2 seconds and shuts off. It's idling at like 2200 which it didn't used to do at all but I dont even think the guy had the electric choke hooked up so that could be the issue. I do my normal four pumps and fire it up and it will idle rough...

Any tips for removing stuck intake manifold? (Update...it worked)

Yeah there were a number of intake bolts that came up with oil on the threads...makes sense now. I'll be sure to do that. Thanks!

Any tips for removing stuck intake manifold? (Update...it worked)

Yeah I already covered everything up to minimize getting crap in there. Also I agree about the silicon. If you look at the back of the block he almost completely sealed what I assume is a water port. The car came with an extra set of edelbrock manifold gaskets and being that I have edelbrock...

Any tips for removing stuck intake manifold? (Update...it worked)

Sure enough a sharp thin metal putty knife cut through the front between intake and block did the trick and it popped right off! The hoist was the next step if it didn't work. Now to get the intake gasket off that's as hard as concrete. Plastic scrapers aren't cutting it so going to parts...

Any tips for removing stuck intake manifold? (Update...it worked)

Thank for the quick replies. Time to get out there with a drop light and give it a try. Yeah love the look of those valve covers and I haven't seen too many people with them probably because they're so damn expensive. The guy before me installed them because I wouldn't pay over $300 for...

Any tips for removing stuck intake manifold? (Update...it worked)

Just like it says everything is off everything is removed I just can't break it loose. I had a decent oil pooling on top of the intake and need to swap the gaskets but beating on it with a rubber mallet has done nothing. Intake and heads are both aluminum and I don't want to risk screwing...

Sell carb to pan built 340 or part it?

Responded to all the pm's and yes those subframe connectors are already in there. They went in when the 340 went in thankfully.

Sell carb to pan built 340 or part it?

Yeah unfortunately I know there's no way to recoup what was spent to build. I've already had some pm's on the parts I listed in this thread so if I do parting it is probably the way I'll go. Plus I can finally see what pistons and rods I have in the motor before I sell the short block.

Sell carb to pan built 340 or part it?

Car has a 8 3/4 rear end with 3.55, built manual valve body 727 that probably won't hold 600hp, has SS rear leaf springs that I might convert to caltracs, and subframe connectors. I'm pretty sure mini tubs might be on the list shortly. Honestly I know myself. I have a problem called never...

Sell carb to pan built 340 or part it?

Nothing wrong with it. It actually runs great but I've gotten used to it. After a year the holy crap this is fast has gone to yeah it's pretty quick so it's time to make it faster. I picked up a 440 for cheap and figured I'd build it but now I'm wondering if it would in fact be cheaper to...

Sell carb to pan built 340 or part it?

That's the other route I was considering. I already have the built small block 727, aluminum heads I'd have ported, etc. I just figured in my head a built 416 won't live as long as a stock stroke built 440.

Sell carb to pan built 340 or part it?

Yeah I understand and in my case I have absolutely nothing to hide. I welcome anyone to drive it hear it inspect it with a camera or anything. Yeah I might check around through the local mopar club here too. Maybe even place an ad through them as well. I really would rather not go through...

Sell carb to pan built 340 or part it?

Yeah honestly I'm going to get the short block and machine work done with what I have in the budget now. I want the 340 to fund twisted wedge heads and good quality rockers. I'd love for someone to fly down here drive the car hear the motor and decide then.

Yeah I didn't even think about that to be honest
