    [WANTED] Slant-6 Engine Oil Dipstick

Looking for a slant-6 engine oil dipstick, it should be about 12-2/8" in length (or so) from the bottom of the handle (bulge) to the tip. I don't need the tube. The sealing-collar below the handle broke off mine, so it can't sit inside the tube now...

Piston 0.007 past deck height with 198 rods. Go/No-Go?

I've got a 225 with 198 rods and Wiseco PTS536A45 pistons at 3.445" bore - the head and block were just kissed for gasket sealing... I'm using AussieSpeed's Big Bore gasket that has a 0.060" thickness on the gasket and 0.070 on the ring. My piston is projecting 0.007" past the block deck. Is...

Purolator & Wix will not warranty standpipe oil filters for /6 but Baldwin will.

Just heads up - I had the following exchange today with Mann+Hummel (below) who owns Mann, Purolator, and Wix brand filters. I was looking for their best filter for my slant that had a standpipe - since I'm not using an oil pump that has the standpipe attached. In short, Mann (Wix & Purolator)...

    Slant-6 Flexplate with 3/8" bolts?

Does anyone have a part number for a flexplate that uses 3/8" bolts for a slant-6 904? I considered drilling mine to enlarge the hole, I don't think there's enough meat there to work safely.

    Ferrea Cam/Lifter Taper Specs

Just heads up - if you use Ferrea Lifters, they call for specific camshaft taper angles of .002 across the face and .004 on the diameter. Ken at OCG questioned me on the taper when I spec'd my cam - but Ferrea says they are correct for their lifters. I'm using their lightweight 63-gram...

OCG is out of 225 cam blanks - how about 170?

Oregon Cams is out of 225 blanks - suggested a 170 core to grind out my #346 camshaft. I guess I'm okay with that - anyone disagree? BTW, if you've got a confirmation on your cam, your safe - this only impacts new cam orders, you know... like mine :/

    Ford 289 Valves for /6 - what a deal!

Early Ford 289 valves (look up 1965) are just the right size for a size-up valve replacement, and Star Performance is selling Elgin I-1670B (1.780") & E-1669B (1.453") valves for $3.70 & $3.62 per-pair. Google those part numbers - this is a deal! The suffix "B" in the part number indicates a...

    Oregon Cam #346 - questions

For those using the Oregon Cam Grinders #346... 1. Are you happy with it? 2. What other engine mods have you done? 3. What RPM do you feel the power (street, not racing or WOT) 4. What's your stall RPM? Here's my baseline: a long-rod engine using factory 198 rods, Wiseco PTS536A45 pistons...

    198 Rods + 2.2L Pistons - advice needed

There's a lot written about using 2.2L pistons and longer 198 rods in the 225 - has anyone documented the process beginning-to-end? I read Dutra's stroke article which is great, but I'm wondering if any improvements or part options occurred since that was written. Or lessons learned. Looking...

Anyone using beehive valve springs on a slant-6?

I’m looking for engine component weights for a forged ('68) 225 slant-6 in a quest of reducing reciprocating mass and inertia [list below] - and am starting with valve springs. Partial Cluster Power - probs not an IVR issue

Could use some help. I changed to the RT Engineering IVR last week and am having problems now that I didn't before - namely, parts of my cluster are not live. '68 Barracuda I'll start by saying, the IVR red lamp is blinking, and there is 12V at the appropriate post on the circuit board. All...
