318 rebuild, rocker shaft and spacer question

I have a set of crane shafts that have no notch. That is why I feel it is more important to know the proper orientation of the oil holes so that the rocker arms are oiled as designed. When setting the oil holes down and to the valves the rockers will be oiled properly as designed no matter where...

318 rebuild, rocker shaft and spacer question

I have never installed rocker shafts by where the notches are. They have no function in the oiling system. What is important is that the oiling holes are in the correct location to oil properly. The oil holes need to be pointing down and to the valve tip to oil properly. Your spacers are...

    Intermittent crankcase pressure issues

Actually the pcv valve is almost fully closed at idle and high vacuum. The pcv valve is fully open and functioning at wot. When you did your leak down test did you listen at the exhaust, intake, valve covers, and dip stick tube to see where the air was leaking to? If you redid your pcv system...

I wanted to make one change at a time to the car and post the results. Due to cancer I got a late start and fell way short of my goal for the car this year. Since I already have all the parts my goal in order was: 1 Stock- 17.5 2 Shift kit- 17.3 3 Updated ignition- ? 4 3.90 gear and...

2018 Small Block Race...... join the Fun

Once again Test/Tune was cancelled due to rain. Today was my last chance to test any improvement from my upgraded ignition. The track is closed for the season so my last time of 17.3 holds. My ignition was factory stock so I installed a mp gold box and pertronix coil I had laying around. The...

    318 build

Rumblefish360- What? No LMAO somewhere in your post. I think you missed a gear. "W. See a little facts here as in how many cc’s the head has and what gasket is will be used." The op can use a thicker gasket to lower compression or a thinner gasket to raise compression. He can also cut the...

    318 build

Welcome to FABO. The kb399 pistons might be a bit high in compression with the 702 cam. The kb 167 pistons will increase your compression a bit and work better with that cam. As far as the heads a good valve job and some bowl porting is all that's needed. Bigger valves never hurt.

2018 Small Block Race...... join the Fun

Got to the track again last night but failed to make any improvement. I installed a taller air filter to make about a .5" gap between the lid and housing. I also increased the accelerator pump shot. My 60 ft. went down .02 but the car nosed over right when shifting. I thought the transmission...

Got to the track again and made a few runs before it started to rain.. Also got an official weight on the car. The CAT scale at the local truck stop says #3820. Found the rear diff to be a 2.71 instead of 2.76. Installed a transgo 2 shift kit and the new best et. is 17.397. MPH is now 78.90 ...

2018 Small Block Race...... join the Fun

Finally got to the drag strip tonight to see what my car will do. Its a 73 Satellite, 318, 2.76 rear gear and dual exhaust. The scales were closed so I didn't get a weight but I will go to the truck stop to get that. Ran 17.525 at 78.24 mph. I am guessing 3800 lbs. so my time should be 16.4...
