considering that youve built what is to most sbm mopar guys an all out bullet, why stop now and skimp on cam? iirc w9 heads flow crazy at higher lifts, can u provide us with the whole flow chart for them?? with the 1.6 or 1.7 rockers you should be up in the mid to high 700s with that .630 cam...

if you want just 400 horse, for the price and ootb flow i dont think you could go wrong with rhs la x. for your apllication i dont think there is a need to go aluminum.

there is a thread going on over at moparts about eddy releasing a "victor" smallblock head. but i cant tell if its true or just a rumor seeing that it was some guys brothers friend who saw them at some eddy vendor at a race track. anybody know if there is any truth to this tale?

thanks for the infro brian. i think i read a car craft write up somewhere that u built a 408 stroker with just touched up rhs heads and a hyd ft cam. i think it made 485hp and 520lbft? iirc. how much would your fully ported la x heads, with springs just for a similar style hyd flat tappet cam...

or brian, if you could provide me some lift numbers on a set of your fully ported rhs x heads it would probably be easier to bolt up and i could get them straight from you. from hughes a the ported magnum iron rams flow 297cfm at 600 lift. brian how do your rhs x heads stack up flow wise? i know...

no i wouls be using either edelbrock magnum heads, or hughes fully ported magnum iron rams on a la360 block.

that could be it. i havent realy driven the car this summer cuz i fell on some tough times. but i peridoicly start it and let it get hot every 1 or two weeks. i be there just losing pump cuz everything else seems normal and its defanitly not down on power.

i have a 360 with hydraulic flat tappet cam, when i start the engine you can hear the lifters tapping for about 5-8 seconds before oil pressure kicks in and its silent. oil pressure is fine and engine runs as strong as ever when it warms up. keep in mine iv had this 360 in the car for 7 years...

with a budget of 3 grand total i say you could pick up a junkyard magnum, put some aluminum heads on it ootb and make 350 at the crank with stock internals and an r/t camshaft

need alot more info to send you in the right direction. whats the cars inteded use? street or strip??? also what is your budget??? what heads are you running???? also please list the transmision, rear gears, tire size and suspenion.

and get ready to belt out some major horsepower!!! gotta pay to play. when you say the heads are bare, have they been ported at all??? does anyone know if w9s are cnc ported from the factory?? at very least you should send them out and get them checked over with maybe some light hand finishing.

do you know what the heads flow?? usualy the cam is selected to match the flow of the heads...

ok im going to give this a shot. i feal the anweser to your question is short and simple. lets say you have a pair of w2's that you hust sent out to a reputable shop and had the ported and flowed. Lets say the shop proves the heads to peak flow 300cfm at .600 lift. now considering the WHOLE rest...

hmm. there are several differant styles of a w2 head. im assuming the w2s your talking about are the oval port heads. id love to see edelbrock produce an aluminum oval port smallblock mopar head, and call it a "victor junior" smblock head...... probably will never happen. but idk man open any...

i think if it hooks your going to break an axle. i think youll be okay with the 8 3/4 if its in good shape but you absolutly are going to need heavy duty aftermarket axles. those stock ones arnt goint to last for the first 60 feet

thanks guys, i remember seeing that post about fram but i couldnt remember any of the better oil filters.

so i changed the oil in my stock stroke 360 with x heads using royal purple 5w-30 and a fram oil filter, started it up oil pressure looked good at around 55-60 pounds hopped in drove it around for about half an hour and as the engine got hotter about 185 degrees the oil pressure droped to around...

making me think of sending my x's over to shady dell.....
