well i found out that the reason it wasnt starting with the ignition switch is because i didnt have the park/neutral switch hooked up. also, any batteries i try to use act like they are almost dead....the motor will turn over and then start slowing down and eventually stop turning all...

i tried to start my 68 valiant the other day and was having a few issues so if anyone has any answers for me then that would be great... a little backround, 68 valiant with a 360 new mopar perf. electronic distributor and orange box new crane fireball coil new plugs and wires new optimus red...

hopefully i will be able to do that within the next month or 2 once the motor is finished

does it matter which one i ground and which one i hook to the regulator?

thats what the instructions said, but i cant test them yet as the wiring isnt completely put together

so i installed a mopar performance electronic distributor (i think thats what it is anyways) and while i was hooking up the wiring the instructions said to splice one of the wires into the positive side of the resistor. anyone know which wire thats supposed to be? thanks

does anyone know if this alternator will work on my 68 valiant? it has 2 spade terminals on the back and my wiring harness on has 1. if it will work, any idea which terminal i use? thanks for any help (sorry the pic is kinda blurry)

car: 1968 plymouth valiant....originally a slant 6 with a column shift manual trans motor and trans: 360 from a 1974 dodge 1-ton ambulance van with a 727 auto trans the brown/yellow wire comes out of the plug closest to the master cylinder and is about 3 feet long. also has a plastic...

i did see the flat spot on the ring terminal so now i atleast know that is where it goes to..... i will check on the brown/yellow wire tomorrow morning to see where it comes from

it is for the 68 valiant..... from what i was guessing, the dark blue would of been the coil since it has a ring terminal, but it is up front by where the /6 coil would of been.. light grey wire has a female spade on it the lavender wire up front had a 90 degreen rubber connector on it...

so i just put a 360 in my car and im using the old slant 6 engine harness. the slant 6 wasnt in the car when i got it... i have a few wires that are unaccounted for: positive wire to the coil oil sending unit wire and coolant temp sensor wire wires that are just hanging around: brown/yellow...

well i put the orange box in just about the same location as you... i also got almost the whole engine and headlight wiring harness installed.. only problem now is that i cant seem to find the wires that go to the coil

i just dropped the motor and trans in my valiant yesterday and within the next few days i plan on installing the wiring. i put on a brand new mopar performance electronic distributor and i am trying to figure out where to put the orange control box. i know i could put it anywhere i wanted, but...

thanks for the reply i hope to be dropping in my motor/trans this saturday so i think this was my last question related to that i added a mopar perfrmance electronic ignition which came with the harness that i need to add to the /6 harness...

i know this is a dumb question, but..... my valiant was originally a slant 6 but now im dropping in a 360. can i happen to use the slant 6 engine harness or do i need a new harness for the v8?
