    My car was doing pretty much the same thing a while back. I had over tightened the needle and seat when I rebuilt the carb and striped the threads.

    Good carb rebuild kit

    I rebuilt the carter bbs on my '66 170 and it runs worse than before the rebuild. I took it back apart to see if I messed up reassembling it, but everything was fine. I'm just wondering if anybody knows of a quality rebuild kit and where I can buy it.

    Idling problem

    Turned out to be a bad ballast resistor. My dad had an old truck repair manual that said how to test it and sure enough that was the problem. Changed it out with one from napa and now my valiant is running great.

    I checked the needle and seat and the float level. They were all fine, but I still having the same problems. Does anyone else know what could be causing them.

    Let's figure out this choke issue...

    I had the exact same problem on my /6. The spring in the choke termostat was way too loose. I adjusted it for about an 1/8" gap like RedFish said and now it starts much easier and runs great cold.

    I just got my first /6 car, a 66 Valiant w/ a 170/904 trans, and I was wonder what good shop manuals are out there for the /6 and carter bbs carb.
