Small bolt pattern axle to big

Just remember if you use axles that need B body brakes as Dr Diff's do or put on rear disc brakes, they will widens the hub to hub length of the rear axle. So you are going to need wheels with more backspacing to center the wheels and tires back in the wheel wells.

Small bolt pattern axle to big

I have Moser axles in my Dart. I ordered the axles for the standard A body width and hub size to run stock 1 3/4" 10 inch drums and had them drilled with both bolt patterns 4" and 4 1/2", and I drilled the drums for the 4 1/2" pattern. This is for the Dana 60 that's under my 66 Dart with 30...

Hey YR, didn't mean to to turn this into a big argument, You and I and a few others on this forum seam to be the only ones that have move on from the 60's and 70's antiquated clutch technology of 3500# pressure plates and rage disc's and of coarse the 1 ton flywheel. I like to clear up a few...

aluminum vs steel flywheel for stroker

Evidently you do not race a stick car and if you do it's not very fast and it breaks a lot of parts. I put an aluminum flywheel and soft-loc clutch in my street Dart and pick over a half second( 11 teens at 120 to 10.70 at 126) with no other changes. Recently I pull the flywheel and clutch for a...

aluminum vs steel flywheel for stroker

The only problem with heavy flywheels and clutches is inertia, They have a lot of pent up inertia which does help to accelerate the car and get heavy vehicles moving. But inertia is like the IRS, it wants to be paid back ASAP. As soon as it is used up your engines torque and horsepower has to...

    Installed new pistol grip

The handle is a small front brake lever from a Honda dirt bike. That I modified the handlebar bracket to mount to the bracket on the shift handle were the rod and t-handle were. Then I picked up a metal rod the same thickness as the original rod,cut and bent it to fit and tapped threads on both...

How To Recondition a Sure Grip Cone

The only thing different we use to do was to add 727 clutch springs inside the four pre load springs, a little tough on the street on corners but it kepted both wheels locked together at the drag strip.

    early a body 4speed question

If it has the companion flange it is a 1964 or 1965 trans. The A-body trans will have the shifter mount lugs on the rear (behind the trans mount) of the tail housing and a short tail shaft. All of these early ( with companion flange ) A-body trans had 3.09 first gears,1.92 second,1.40 third, and...

    Slick Shifted 833

I've been running a slick shifted trans at the track for 3 years now. It can be driven on the the street but not recommended unless you are very good with a road ranger at matching rpm and road speed. At the track is where they shine and the faster you shift them the longer they last , miss a...

    4spd first gear choice.

The 3.09 first gear trannies are just as strong as any other 833. Help rebuilding 8 3/4" Sure Grip!

They had an article in the old chrysler power mag years ago where they machined down the ends of the cones so they would not bottom out in the case, and then shimed the side gears back to the spider gears (as the cones ware the side gears and spiders pull apart). Then they put clutch pack...
