    Slant six carb suggestions

I'm sure he is kidding. I agree with the concept of using a two-barrel carb on a two-barrel manifold, likewise with a four barrel. You may want to check out the Weber progressive two-barrel. Or...you may want to skip the carb all together and go with fuel injection. There were a couple of...

    4bbl Slant Intake

You might want to check out AussieSpeed and their 4 bbl intakes. They have 9 different intakess 2 bbl, 4 bbl, 2-4 bbl with long and short runners. A bit pricey, but they work well. I have a long runner with a 390 cfm Holley that I ran for two years on a 73 Mordor. To take full advantage...

    Adapting Weber carb to slant-6

The engineering for running a Weber carb on a /6 is pretty much the same as any other carburetor. The Jeepers have been doing this sort of thing for quite a while. Maybe a few will pipe up with their carb comparisons on the 4.0L. ( Weber Carburetor Conversion for Jeep Vehicles ) Make sure...

    64 Slant carburetor problems

The cleaning probably helped. Suggest if you do a rebuild, see if a brass float is available for the Carter. One of the problems I had with the Holley on the Mordor was a float that didn't (the other being a dud accelerator pump). A replacement float would have worked, but brass is less...

    64 Slant carburetor problems

Wondering how often is the car being driven and if you're using a fuel stabilizer. I have seen ethanol laced fuel turn to goo after it sits a while. A good fuel stabilizer combats that problem.

Dies when hot, possibly boiling gas, exhaust flap stuck

Had a problem once upon a time where the flexible hose between the fuel pump and the steel line from the rear of the car would collapse after about an hour of highway driving. Cured it by replacing hose and making sure there was no sag and no sharp bends in it.

What would you do? Slant performance

The most power to be gained from a /6 is going to come from more compression. I don't know what machine shop work goes for in you neck of the woods. Plan on a rebuild kit, milling the block and head to .090-.100 combined, a camshaft, and oversized valves. Depending on the condition of the...

    What carb is on a 73 198?

Depending on time of model year and smog equipment it will be either a Holley 1920 (early production) or a Holley 1945. My 73 had a 1920 on it. Got a rebuild that was jetted too rich from AutoZone (Holley did the rebuild on it.). Bummer about rebuild kits is that most do not include...

    225 Dart chugging past 70...

Glad it was an easy fix. You'll have to drop the tank to clean it. The way I cleaned out gas tanks involved putting about 1-2 lbs of 1/2" to 3/4" diameter gravel (not smooth) and a pint of gas in the tank. Seal tank and shake like crazy turning tank around to expose interior surfaces to...

    cooling my slant 6

The four blade fan should be fine. If you have reservations about it, try a viscous fan and a shroud from a car with A/C. While tuning up the cooling system, check the lower radiator hose. I had a problem with the 73 /6 overheating at highway speeds (70-75 mph). Turns out that as I...

91 octane to stop vapor lock?

No. Octane is a colorless liquid that will boil around 125º F. Octane Ratings are only a measure of the fuel's tendency to burn in a controlled manner, rather than exploding in an uncontrolled manner. Explosion in an uncontrolled manner in an engine is what is more commonly called knock or...

This is interesting in that they appear to be saying that this product is useless on most of the vehicles sold in the United States since 1971. 1. EGR systems came into common use in the US in 1972. All of them have vents under the carburetor which allow exhaust gasses to pass into the...

The motor mounts changed to spool type in 73. Keep the ones you have on the 65 now. The cylinder head got hardened seats in 72. Very good for unleaded fuel and DD usage. The 904 on the /6 does not interchange with the V-8. Starter motors mount in different places. IIRC, the 65 uses a...
