    Internal or External

Hello everyone. I am trying to confirm if this balancer and torque converter are for an internally balanced crank. I don't see any weights on either the converter or the balancer. The balancer does not say "for cast crank only" The crank is a '68 340, but parts below are not from motor. I just...

    340 Oil pan

Hello everyone, I'm putting together my 340 and realized the oil pan I have is cracked. :( I have an extra one, however it is not as deep as the cracked one, so it barely clears the windage tray. I'm looking at replacing it with a stock style oil pan. Will this one work...

    What 340 piston?

If you can clean off the carbon off the top, there may be a number on top.

    Build thoughts

I just looked up replacement gears. They aren't too expensive, I was expecting more. . So if I went with the comp 20-224-4, what gear size and converter would be ideal?

    Build thoughts

Hey everyone. Thanks for the responses! I would like a mild street car that idles nice and sounds good. I'm not anticipating changing the gears right away, but am willing to get a stall converter. I have an opportunity to get this cam new and cheap: comp cams: 20-224-4 what would be needed for...

Hello everyone, I need some advice to finish my build. Car is a 70 swinger with manual brakes and steering. I have is a 340 bored .040 with KB hyperutectic pistons. The bottom end is finished and am working on the top end. I have some 340 heads that have been rebuilt to stock specs a while ago...

    Piston to Valve clearance

I guess I'll have to wait until I decide on a cam. I am going to clay it before I put everything together, but if so many things about the cam are factors and you won't know for sure until you mock it up, how do you know what cam to choose? If you get the wrong one its possible to have issues.

    Piston to Valve clearance

Sorry it was so vague. I bought the Fel pro master gasket kit, so I assume that its close to stock style. Also the cam as I said in first post is going to be mild, just barely over stock. Hydraulic lifters, cam.

    Piston to Valve clearance

I got the hyperutectic pistons. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/uem-kb243-040/overview/make/dodge I haven't decided on the cam yet, something mild a little more aggressive than stock.

    Piston to Valve clearance

Hello everyone, I am building a 340 for my '67 dart GT. I opted for the KB hyperutetic pistons .040 over. Will I have a problem with piston to valve clearance with the factory "big valve" heads? I haven't chosen a cam yet, but I want something mild, since this is just a street car. Thanks!

    X J or TA Heads

I understand the offset rocker now. The heads were dissasembled when I got them but do not believe rockets are offset. I will check tonight. One head has an x by spark plug hole. Which tells me X head. Other in question has O by hole.

    X J or TA Heads

Well i was more looking for a confirmation that the two head casting numbers are different and can be used together. Not sure only 1 T/A head is going to do any good. lol

    X J or TA Heads

Not sure if this is in the right section, I apologize if not. I have a 1967 Dart GT and recently bought a complete 340 that I'm building for it. I found the casting numbers for the heads, but the right is different from the left. They do have the same size valves, just not sure why the casting...

318 Year range best for machining

Thanks for the advice. I think he is only asking 200 for the motor and trans, not sure why he is selling. I think if it checks out, I'm gonna get regardless if a few things have to be changed, accessory brackets oil pan, etc...

318 Year range best for machining

Well I found a 318 out of a 1976 minnie winnie rv. The guy says it runs and can hear it before he pulls it out. He is selling trans with it also, not sure if its a 727 or 904, my guess is a 727 because its an rv. Will this motor/trans be good for the dart?

318 Year range best for machining

Hello, I'm new here to this forum, I picked up a 67 Dart, with a slant 6 motor in it and I am looking to put a 318 in it. A friend of mine has a 318 wedge (polyspIhere) i believe and is willing to let it go for a decent price. My only concern is that I can't find any rebuild kits (oversized...
