    sometimes they need a good whack with a dead blow. i have also unscrewed all the nuts and put a floor jack under the case by the numbers (below the yoke) and just jack it up till it pops free.

    The factory put the 727 behind the HP 340 for a reason. Today though if weight is an issue and you need the extra tenth in the quarter than 904 Can be built to work

    biggest mistake is installing the gasket to wet surfaces. next biggest mistake is pinching the gasket during install. personally i like to use the cork-metal-cork ply gaskets.

    yikes..you can get new for 1000, so I think 50 cents on the dollar for good rebuilt used is fair....less for 40 year or parts with unknown history ...offer 300 if it's a cone type sure grip it's all it's worth.

    check the wear pattern on the drive side of the gears. google or you-tube it could explain better than i can in a post. also ask questions like how many miles, new bearings / gears? large or small yoke? if you wanted to go nuts can you get a dial indicator and check backlash etc.
