I stopped using spray cans on engines a long time ago. I use a self etch primer and single stage enamel or urathane with the spray gun. Great coverage, ultimate shine and great durability. I have built numerous cars this way and have won many best engine awards at shows.

Why do you have such a tall scoop...do you need it for clearence? If so, how about a six pack scoop on a flat black hood and keep it all mopar. Or put the 70 style dual scoop hood on it, you can still blackout the center.

When building streetrods we graft on frame rails all the time. It's not hard, it will be easier for you considering you are putting the original rails back on. make sleeves like mentioned above, leave a small gap to compansate for the width of the sawzall blade, check wheelbase, tack the rails...

I would start with a flat hood, and modify it. Make sure the scoop sits high enough, other wise it will look funny. I would rather see a shaker than a cowl induction or a stinger scoop. Just my opinion!

I guess everyone has their own secrets and ways to do things. I do agree with you that a gentle touch is a must....most of the time. We just finished a 70 Hemicuda at the shop and I had to use a pair of pliers and a screwdriver to get them off because someone glued them on in the past.

You can use a can opener to remove the driprail molding (just put tape around it so you dont scratch it), and the windshield trim is removedwith a tool that looks like a hook.

What ever color the cowl and the tops of the fenders are would look good.

Most painters will want to use what they are familiar and comfortable with. I think you should talk to him before you buy anything. You might buy something based on priced, and it might not be compatable with the base coat he is spraying.

I have used Legendary tops on 5 cars I restored, including two '70 340 Swingers. I really like their products. They fit great and look great too.

Make sure they do it right, I saw this on what the owner claimed was a "totally restored" perfect 340 Swinger. Once I saw this, I didn't trust any other work that might be hidden under the paint.

That's to bad. I was actually looking at them for paint for a '69 Road Runner and a '66 Mustang I am doing for customers right now. With the economy the way it is, you would think vendors would bend over backwards to keep customers happy, especailly considering that you didn't ask for anything...

That deffinately cleans up the front end

I think the biggest problem would be the thickness of the bedliner material. It is much thicker than vinyl. Also, it wouldn't have the same sheene.
